So why did you go with a 3rd Gen over a 2nd gen?

Hahahahahah yes, that's the one!!! 2.2 liters of MOAR POWAH! Mine was 5spd, MGM (whatever they called it). Bad rubbery shifter, kept eating carburetors (At $600 a pop!)

When it finally cracked a head at 85k miles I donated it for tax purposes. Mopar quality, yeahhh baby!

Yeah I especially enjoyed the smoke off the manifolds coming through the fresh air vents. My last vehicle from 'Merican manufacturers.

My 2013 was totaled and I needed a replacement.

Up here in the Northeast unless I wanted a leftover 2015 that was likely the slimmest of pickings in June of 2016, everything new had seen snow. I wanted to take my time to properly FF the new truck prior to winter.

The 3G trucks had a moonroof, which was the biggest reason I liked the 3G over the 2G. Plus I could get the 6MT, especially after reading the complains about the 6AT. I had the 5AT in my 2G and wasn't a fan of it.

My only regret getting the OR over the Sport is the black flares. I like the OR much better overall, but I don't like the black flares one bit. I would have much preferred the color matched units. Sky Silver is an okay color, although I'm not in love with it. I couldn't do another MGM simply because the accident with my 13 was too fresh. The blue was unfortunately too blue for me. I loved it now, but I didn't think I'd love it in 5 years. White was a bit meh, and I've already had a white truck. I don't want another black vehicle.

Had they made the Pro with a moonroof, I probably would have said screw it and just bought one of those in Cement.

New gen 2 owner here. Owned a 84, an 86, and a 97 Toyota pickup. I recently purchased a 07 DCSB Off Road with the 4.0 V6. I received a 2017 Tacoma DCSB Off Road as a loaner until my recall gets taken care of. I pulled a 6x10 trailer with my Suzuki Kingquad today and was very unimpressed with it's towing ability. The 4.0 seems like it tows a lot better than the under powered 3.5. The 3.5 is always shifting and revving just to tow a light load. The 4.0 gets better towing mileage also. I think Toyota took a stap backwards with the 3rd generation Tacoma powerwise. I do like the stereo, sounds great for stock.
