This with an FJ/FZJ80 rear full-floater would be pretty rad.

Nice and hot weld for the coilbucket. Will keep a close eye on this one.

another user had a front coil spring support issue https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/broken-coil-bucket-tower.432018/ (I did not read the thread) but I did have this bookmarked

[IMG] [IMG] i dont think it will help with the top. you could probably fab any of this yourself seeing the picture of that core support you made, nice!

Looks like the rear axle cracks are an issue https://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/toy...e-rear-axle-housing-cracks-repair-method.html has the same problem as you

I've had those total chaos coil bucket gussets in since the start of 2017. I'm sure they help, but I still cracked it.

Let me gaze into the crystal ball.

Given the abuse, it all looks fairly fairly normal with the exception of the rear spring perch. Usually u-bolt flips cause cracking on the bottom of the axle tube under the u-bolt from the point load.

Cracks like to develop along the cab back/floor seam.

The frame is engineered to flex to an extent from weight saving efforts. As folks add boxing or plating the flex gets focused/concentrated in new spots. One fellow was chasing cracks forward for years after boxing the rear open section. Finally the frame outright buckled in the mid section.

The LCA rivets are definitely a potential crack site. The heads have a fairly small "contact area" and the ones that did not get centered well are worse.

    3/32" here.

    Less than 1/16" here.

Found that while looking into repositioning the forged LBJ mount portion forward for obvious reasons.
The plan was, scab plates with new holes and flange nut/bolts to replace the rivets, maybe a tack or two on the fasteners. Around 1/2" forward or 2° additional caster could be gained with not too much work.
    Then I lost interest.

    Always appreciate the info.

My rear frame is boxed, going to go give it a good look over now.

Also, interesting idea on moving that forged piece forward for more caster.

Humm after reading all the bent rear frame stories for first gens, I boxed mine.
Now something else to think about.
Oh well. I think I would rather some cracks to keep an eye out for and patch rather than trying to straighten a frame.
    Thanks for the heads up

The solo stock lca replacements push the lbj mount forward an inch. One the the reasons I got them. They have other draw backs though..

Interesting about the frame flexing more in areas after reinforcement of other areas.

Apparently we need to just box the whole frame haha

1st post updated with links to each thing, and added a post on motor mount perches.

I assumed it was topping out the shocks hard that was starting the cracks. I.E. getting the front tires in the air. Also I'm sure significantly heavier coils than stock (I run 650lb) aren't helping.

I do drive lots of washboard roads though.

I finally had a chance to get the truck up on jackstands and the wheels off. This coming weekend I hope to clean it up good to get a good look at what is under all that mud and grime.

    Do you have those?

I modified the shock mount on stock arms to run the LH side on the RH side and vice-versa. Pushed the LBJ forward about an inch and a half at neutral cam setting.

The feel of the bump-steer on the street is a bit more than I expected when I measured it after mod, and its about the same geometry as maxed out caster setting on the LCA, but the bushing is much more compliant, when not torqued up for max caster...

Just trying to get feedback from someone with similar geometry!

My steering rack has noticeable play in it, and I'm trying to pin down the cause of the instability after a large pothole on the street.

Curious if you find anything on the other coilbucket.

Guessing it doesn't mean anything, but it's my passenger side that's cracked, and the driver side looked perfect.
