I've done Newport Landing before and it kind of sucked. The San Pedro landing was good but it's Been a few years since I've been to that one so I'm not sure. Anybody been recently? What landings do you guys use/take off from? What, in your opinion, is the best one?

In LA i like the Pursuit out or 22nd st Landing in SD I mostly go on the 3/4 day boats Point Loma (Mission Belle) or H&M (Malihini) both good boat and good crew.

I went on Newport Landing once and really didnt like the areas they fished. When we got back I looked up Daveys locker fish count and it was ridiculous compared to what we got.

up here i only go out of 22nd street. In SD i don't care you catch fish no matter what boat you are on.

The two spots I go to for deep sea fishing are Channel Islands sports fishing in Oxnard and Helgren's in Oceanside. I prefer Channel Islands out of the two.

I usually go out of Redondo or 22nd st. landing. Pursuit is a good boat to head to catalina, if I want to stay local I jump on spitfire or Tradition.

Well Ive been checking out the companies and it looks like 22nd is pretty good. I wanted to stay in the OC and LA so 22nd street suits me best. A group of 10 buddies and I will be going out next week on Friday, most likely on the Pursuit as a full day trip towards Catalina. Hope all goes well. Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

Depends on the Captain. normally on open charter boats they wont allow it because they want you to buy their beer (food is ok, I do it all the time, saves money:D). If its a private charter, their ok with it, Ive been on several private boats and for the most part they didn't care. Good Luck
