Where does it show a decline? Dashed lines are incomplete reporting.

Never mind - didn't realize dashed lines were incomplete reporting. Looks like steep curve will keep going up until flattened...

Thank you. I am giving up on trying to get people to become literate about this online.

I swear, teaching Biology and having two degrees in science, while reading the garbage being shared is making me frustrated. The hospitals near me have all respirators and ventilators assigned with more patients in need. The tests dont matter, the patients are being treated. Tests will be conducted and evaluated, care comes first. This is just sickening.

No one's opinion or politics matter. Science literacy is what matters.

Right, just like being active duty, its a love hate relationship. I wont lie I miss it sometimes. Little bro is actually in basic right now (he went SF against my advice), we got a phone call last week about cancelled graduation, they are going to live stream it, my mom was pretty upset.

Not surprising to be honest. The level of misinformation is the real pandemic.
Fun fact. There are 10,000 ventilators across all the hospitals in the state of California, combined. Meanwhile, there are over 5 million people over the age of 65 in California.

Another fun fact: There are 46,800 to 64,000 medical intensive-care unit (ICU) beds, according to the AHA - in the USA.

Best defense is to not get sick in the first place.

Why would the utilites go off? wWhy would you run out of water? This is not an earthquake or flood. Treated water from you tap.

What the fuck is up with people and bottled water, other than ignorance?

    https://www.epa.gov/coronavirus/coronavirus-and-drinking-water-and-wastewater

For those of you who will never go to that link, I'll repeat the basics here:

    Is drinking tap water safe?
EPA recommends that Americans continue to use and drink tap water as usual. The World Health Organization (WHO)EXIThas stated that the, “presence of the COVID-19 virus has not been detected in drinking-water supplies and based on current evidence the risk to water supplies is low.”1 Additionally, according to the CDC, COVID-19 is mainly thought to spread between people who are in close contact with one another. Read more from the CDC about transmission of COVID-19. Further, EPA’s drinking water regulations require treatment at public water systems to remove or kill pathogens, including viruses.

1 World Health Organization. 2020. Technical Brief. Water, sanitation, hygiene and waste management for the COVID-19 virus. March.
    Website: https://www.who.int/publications-detail/water-sanitation-hygiene-and-waste-management-for-covid-19. Reference number: WHO/2019-NcOV/IPC_WASH/2020.1

    Read CDC’s handwashing guidance.

What should I do If I’m concerned about my drinking water?
WHO has stated that the, “presence of the COVID-19 virus has not been detected in drinking-water supplies and based on current evidence the risk to water supplies is low.”

Homeowners that receive their water from a public water utility may contact their provider to learn more about treatments being used. Treatments could include filtration and disinfectants such as chlorine that remove or kill pathogens before they reach the tap.

Homeowners with private wells who are concerned about pathogens such as viruses in drinking water may consider approaches that remove bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens, including certified home treatment devices.

Do I need to buy bottled water or store drinking water?
EPA recommends that citizens continue to use and drink tap water as usual. At this time, there are no indications that COVID-19 is in the drinking water supply or will affect the reliable supply of water.

More on cleaning, especially when and what:
    https://www.cleaninginstitute.org/coronavirus

    Key Times to Clean
    • At Home: Wash your hands before and after food prep, before eating, after using the bathroom, after touching garbage or diapers and after handling pet food. Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects, like door handles and light switches. If someone in your home is sick, follow these CDC guidelines for additional cleaning and disinfecting actions.
    • At Work: Always wash hands before eating and after using the bathroom. If there are communal snacks, use things like bakery tissue paper to avoid touching other people's food. Stay home if sick and encourage colleagues to do the same.
    • At School: Remind children of proper hand washing techniques and timing (i.e. before lunch or snack time and after using the bathroom). Keep children home if sick. Ask the school (or day care) about any additional illness prevention practices being implemented.
    • Running Errands: Avoid touching your face after contact with frequently-touched surfaces. Consider using an antibacterial wipe on the grocery cart handle, especially if a child will be riding in the cart. If using reusable bags, be sure to wash them when you get home. Consider using a grocery delivery service, if available.
    • While Traveling: Avoid unnecessary travel and try to stay at least 6 feet away from anyone who is sneezing, coughing or blowing their nose. At the airport, wash your hands after going through security and after getting off the plane.

just made a run to walmart picked up a quart of OJ,a quart of Super tech 0w20, a Super tech 7250 cabin air filter(made in USA will be posting a review at a later time) and FYI all the shelves are loaded and restocked with essentials ,like TP,water bottles, milk, bread, disinfectant spray etc. etc. also all folks and workers I encountered had positive attitudes and cordial, so go stock up if you need some stuff:spending:, but please don't hoard. Also some more good news is the Stock market has rebounded and is in positive territory reversing earlier losses:thumbsup:

Posted this before... keep calm and carry on but know the math, respect nature.

Why we need to curb the spread with hypothetical math...lets say their are hypothetically 20,000 people infected (in the USA) on March 19th (assuming numbers double everyday (thought experiment, not real))... March 20th - 40,000... (20,000 * 2^7) = 2,560,000 people infected on March 26th... 80% are asymptomatic to mild symptoms = 2.05 mill... leaving 512,000 severely symptomatic... 15% of need hospitalization = 384,000... and having a overall mortality rate of 1.5% = 38,400 eventual deaths ... this is just a thought experiment and only for educational purposes since it is much more complex than this but this is how exponential growth can overwhelm you before you even realize it.

Now lets say we curb that to doubling every two days ... 1.28 million by the 26th... 192,000 hospitalized
    Now every 7... easy... March 26th... 40,000... 6,000 hospitalizations

But remember this is a marathon... bad case hypothetical... 50% of USA gets it in the next 12 months... 2% overall mortality rate... ~ 3.3 million dead... this is why this is so serious if we do nothing.

This is what I’m feeling is correct. Look how the mortality rate is getting lower and lower.
