I’m looking for recommendations for a high quality light weight sock to wear with work boots.

The last couple of boots I’ve had all seem to develop the same problem. After a few months it seems that my right foot will feel that something is bunching up under my toes. I buy expensive boots but cheap socks. Not sure if it’s the insole of the boot or my socks. I’d like to keep the boots I have and eliminate the problem.

I don't remember the brand but I like the lightweight dual-layered hiking socks I got from REI, work great for hiking and for work when you have to stand/move around a lot. When I get home later I'll see what brand they are

z2 for smartwool. If you look for a wool sock or wool blend, they tend to provide a little more cushioning than your standard poly/cotton blend which will compress after walking all day. As an added bonus, they help with stinky boot foot since the natural fibers don't hold bacteria the same.

X2 for Darn Tough. Pricey, but they have a lifetime warranty.

Classic wool blend sold at a local military surplus store. They look ugly but vary comfy.

You need to do some experimenting. First go buy some heavy weight socks and try them, your feet might need more cushioning. You can also try a silk liner sock inside a lightweight hiking sock. If that dosent change anything then try orange superfeet.

What boots do you have? Lace or slip on? If lace then look up how to lace to lock the heel in which will keep that foot from moving.

I normally wear smartwool, but I have to wear them inside out otherwise I get blisters due to how they make their padded areas. Never pay full price for them as sierratrading post has good sales on them.

I've had really good luck with the midweight Smartwool or Darn Tuff hiking socks. The middle weight gives a bit of cushion from the thickness and in my experience doesn't seem to make my feet hot, even in ambient temps pushing 120*. My boots and clothing would be crusted in salt from sweating by the end of the day, but my feet stayed dry and comfortable. FWIW, I run Red Wing 3507's on steel and non-skid decks on my feet from 12 to 14 hours a day when I'm working.
