Mine is a long bed. I know I want a soft topper canvas style. Just don’t know anything about them. I’m obviously aware of ‘soft topper’ but does anyone know any that are cheaper and just as durable?!

Do yourself a favor and spend the money on the Softopper. They are worth the money as far as “canvas” toppers go.

Slept through an incredible blizzard with very strong wind gusts in Kansas and this thing never budged. Only other brand I've ever seen is the Best Top and they don't look nearly as well fit.

Depending on where you are located, you can often find a decent used Softtopper brand on craigslist occasionally.

That should be easy on a bad back when removing. How hard are they to quickly remove or reinstall? R&R.

You don't need to remove them. I can fold mine down flat in less than a minute. Undo the buttons, loosen up the straps in the back and just fold it down.

Just buy an actual Softopper, their quality & durability is top-notch.
I've had mine for 3-years, used year-round in NYS and it has no signs of wear except a foggy plastic rear window from my neglect in cleaning it.

The sides/back can be rolled up for extra ventilation/view, and the entire assembly can be folded forward in about 7-10min.

Replacement parts via the softopper site are very inexpensive:

There used to be a company called Can-Back here in SoCal that made really nice canvas toppers, but I recall they went out of business some time ago. I think they were trying to revive the business in another state.

I was thinking of keeping the sun off my doggie, wouldn't need his crate with this and could put his bed in the back. Opting for at least the rear screen window. Can the rear be folded up for ventilation when stopped for a bit like getting food at a store or burger?

I think it was 6 days for me to mine. I didn't think that was too bad

Saw more, clicked to see driving configurations, front, rear and sides roll up. Cool! Was wondering about side windows, but if sides roll up, not needed.

Only Softopper official brand is the way to go. Been thru everything and I love it

I have one as well. No side window options but yes the sides roll up. You can remove the entire top (minus the parts that you clamp to the bedsides) in under 5 mins, rolling up the sides is about the same.

I have the softtopper brand and it is much nicer than the bestops I have seen. The windows on the side don't seem to hold up as well as the canvas and they get all scratched up on the trail. I slept through snowstorms and 2 inches of rain in a night in my. I'm definitely happy I chose a soft top over a fiberglass top.

Softtopper is probably the best out there. Best upgrade I've ever made.

Saw one Bestop review, he liked it, but Velcro at the front caused material to rip, didn't read their whole review. Just have to spring for one of these. Fish or cut bait, leaving for a long trip with Repo soon.

You don't want to keep it in direct sun for long. I had opened the flaps up front and back for airflow for my dog and for him to poke his head out of but it still got hot in there in longer trips. We had to stop periodically to make sure he could cool off and drink water.
