SofTopper Camper Top Tent

I've not purchased the SofTopper Top Tent ($199) yet because it only comes in blue. Yes I am vain and want in black. So I called them. Surprisingly, they get the same request on occasion. The customer rep said they need 50 emails supporting an alternate color (they have 15 at this time) then they can have the supplier create the alternate color. So, if you are interested or may be down the road, send them an email with your interest and color (1st and 2nd choice) (black/black for me) to;

Just spoke them, they need 25 more requests to get the black camper made instead of the blue!

I emailed them with my vote for a black one to match the Softopper. I like the idea of the tent, but there's no way I'm wrapping that blue tarp-looking thing around the back of my truck!

Made a post on the "Toyota Tacoma Enthusiast" Facebook page in hopes of getting more interest.

 

A bit late on this thread, but for what its worth I also emailed them. Anybody have any updates if they're being made?

 

I've emailed a couple of different times and there does not seem to be much progress.

 

Got a response. Here’s what they said in case anyone is wondering.


“Thank you for your email!


We are hoping the DAC will be willing to make some new colors of the tent option, but at this time we don’t have any updates about this. It is frustrating on our end, as most customers want a different color for the tent. Please check back with us in a few months and hopefully we will have some better news.”

 

Are there but TWO (2) sizes of the DAC Softopper tent extension? i.e. mid size and full size truck?

I'm wanting to fit one over a bed rack on my Taco A/C LB and it would seem that the "midsize" would be a too small. but the "full size" might be "just right.

Any comments on sizing ? I suppose I should just call and get it right from the source, but hey! Then what would be the fun in that?

 

They only had the mid-size available when I ordered mine.

 

Kinda want. Only had 4Runners before, this is my first p/u. kinda miss having all that weather proof storage
