It was a 2016. I had to change the VIM in TS too (opposed to the easy drop down on the update file). Then we had fun with Windows 10 being a jerk and finicky on connecting at times.

But we got it all done. Easy enough when it worked..

I read your response and I was like ‘it can’t be that ea.. and we’re in.’

Didn’t figure TS would need finessing like the CUW, but what do I know :)

    Hahaha!

I'm all for the easy fixes. The other day, I was struggling with wifi at home. I did look over to be sure the router was turned on, but that ended up just being Windows messing with me.

I’m running Windows 10 on boot camp and was convinced it was a combo of that and my USB C dongle for the new MacBooks.

Tech is supposed to be getting simpler. Wrong.

That was always the hope, but we are definitely more complex. I do love having the info I need at my finger tips.

Finally got around to setting up techstream V12 and running the CUW file for my 2018. Install went very smoothly, truck runs great!

Is a later version of TS needed to install this update onto a 2018? The regkey isn't working for me....I saw the post attempting to explain how to find the "cracked" version of this, but I didn't understand it.

The version linked in the OP will work on your 2018. Just follow the steps. It makes the TSB software (the CUW file) executable. You won't be able to use TS to customize your Taco, but you will get the 04A71 tune.

For the key to work, you have to swap the EXE file. If you didn't do that, you have to fully uninstall TS, I believe.

Uninstalling again now. The swap thing isn't making sense to me for some reason, might need to sleep on it.

Definitely take your time. Get TS working by itself. Then plug in an do the tune.

Video helped, thank you. Everything seemed to install, but I just drove it around the block and there's no change, 1800-2000 rpm the problem still persists. Is there a way to verify I'm on A7100 with TS?

Just checked it with Carista, I'm on A7100, does it just take time for this issue to "learn" to go away?

You should feel the shifts are easier and a slight bump in power.

I want to feel that, but the 1800-2000 RPM stutter is just as-if not more- bad as ever. If Mat replies tomorrow with the reg files, I’ll be immediately applying. Pray for me.

Ok, so my report after a few more months... the truck is just much more predictable off the line now. That early lag is still there but only slightly. It's MUCH more easier to overcome off the line. There's a few "Fast and Furious" early morning stop lights where two lanes go to one lane quickly after the light. Needless to say, I don't have any issue beating cars off the line after this update. In general, I'll still stand by my previous comments that the truck is much more pleasing to drive and not fighting RPM's as much from idle. It drives a bit more similar to my first gen 3.4 but with more pep (more HP).
