tsb flash was successful, now I'm having trouble loading OVTune. P5flash utility has all the buttons greyed out. I cannot click identify. Tactrix is selected connected to truck and key is in on position.

I should add that I just got my laptop back from RMA repair and it has been reflashed. I dont think that should affected the registration. I loaded the same registration file sent to me originally.

    Weird.

There is a new version of FM. For it to work, you have to completely uninstall the old version. Start Menu changes from OVTune Toyota Flash to OVTuned. Without uninstalling, I was greyed out also.

The computer's been completely wiped and a fresh windows loaded. I downloaded everything fresh this morning. I should have the latest and newest version of everything running. FM says version 1.3.0

yes I reinstalled the reg file, as far as I know the system ID is still the same. It's the same laptop. EVGA reflashed it after repair and sent it back to me clean. That wouldn't change the system ID would it? how do I check?

Am I able to move my truck with 04A71 ECU and 04A70 ovtune? or is that a very bad idea?

Do the Identity in FM. I don't know if that would change the System ID, but at least one person posted that an OS update changed theirs.

The TSB tune wiped OVT. You are 04A71 Stock right now.

That's the problem, all the buttons are greyed out and unclickable in TM. So I should have no problem dirivng it then, that's a bit of a relief.

Yes. You are good to go until OVT can get you a new REG file.

Waiting on OVT. My first impressions of 04A71 inspire alot of hope for the OVT 2.0. Just the stock file alone for 04A71 is so much smoother. The sputtering and delay surge in 2nd gear and 3-4 seems completely gone. (we'll see once the tune settles in if that's truely the case) but it's really an huge improvement.

For anyone out there still on 04A70, do yourself a huge favor and get the TSB done if you can or flash it yourself to 04A71.

Now that I've got the clutch MC replaced, this TSB flashed, and the ADM done, slowly but surely this truck is starting to drive the way it should have from the factory.

Did your system id actually change? Is your name next to the system id in flash manager? if so try reinstalling the drivers/software.

Yes my name's next to the SystemID in p5flash utility. I am using Flash Manager version 1.3.0 , and p5flash version 1.2.2

After digging a little deeper I went to the original emails I sent mat when setting up OVTune the first time. The SystemID currently in p5flash utility does not match the System ID that I originally emailed Mat back in the day nor does it match the registration file sent back to me.

I used this registration file again when setting up the laptop for this flash attempt so I dont quite understand how it could be different. It's the same registry file, same laptop (reflashed), same truck other than 04A71 now being loaded. But Idont get access to the flash utility buttons whether it's plugged into the truck or not.

No dice again from the dealership today. Has anyone used techstream on a Mac running windows 10 through Virtualbox? Trying to avoid buying a windows ten laptop haha.

I know that @Shellshock is running Basecamp on his for OVT, but I don't think anyone has posted about using it for TS and the TSB tune flash.

You could try loading it and testing the connection. Maybe do a customization or two before getting crazy on the flash?

There is no real registration required with TS. So, you could use a friend's PC?

BTW, there is a new TSB. TSB-0013-19. It lists a bunch of Toyotas including the MT Tacos, but the noted symptom is an odd one.

Modified the level of gas in the tank
I think there was a cat who tried this via a VM (unsure if was Virtual Box) and didn't he brick his ecu? Don't mean to insert fud but going vm from MAC OS just adds another point of failure.

Tony's advice is good tho, try the customizations first to check for comm success...baby steps, you're a test pilot

I thought that guy was using a cheap cable? TW post mud.

At least it was in a separate thread, so it should be easy to find.

I love it when my shit-ass memory works:

I’ve got mine setup currently using bootcamp. I’ve also done the TSB via a windows 7 vm using vmware fusion. I won’t use any other virtualization software because the drivers can be janky and cause problems. The free ones are free for a reason (they suck).

it might have been both. I don’t remember. The usb pass through on virtual box has always been problematic.
