I've reluctantly decided to sell my 2003 Tacoma Off Road double cab. :(

Here's the scoop on this Taco:

My Dad (Toyota truck owner since 1975) retired in 1999. In 2003, he traded in his 1994 Toyota truck towards this brand new '03. He lived in the desert SW (Albuquerque NM). Truck was garaged every night and since he was retired, he only got out when he wanted to. On the rare occasions when there was snow on the roads, he stayed home.

Here's a picture of his ABQ home (taken by a Google Street View car!) and as luck would have it, his truck (and my wife's car (we were visiting from out of town!)) were both parked out front:

    MDhouse.png

Dad loved his Toyota trucks and took excellent care of them. Back in the day, he performed his own maintenance, but by the time he bought this '03, he let the dealer perform all required maintenance (plus some not required, but "suggested" by the friendly service writer). Here's his big stack of all of the service tickets for the truck:

    maintenance receipts.jpg

The description of the truck is pretty boring because it simply has not had any upgrades. No lift kits, chips, oversize tires, gear swaps, etc. It is 99.9% stock. It has never been a daily driver, but was instead just a "garage queen" that was used to run errands and take a trip to visit family now and then. It has never been off road.

It's never been in water, on rocks, stuck in mud or snow or on either end of a tow strap or tow truck.

It's never been in a wreck or repainted. The paint and clear coat look very good.

Well, my old Dad passed away in 2020, and I inherited his truck. :(

The Tacoma, plus a new car for my wife brings us to five cars (and two drivers).

We just paid our auto annual insurance statement and wife says that one (or two?) vehicles have to go.

I really don't need the Taco, and the only reason I kept it was because it was my Dad's, but I have to agree with my wife that we really don't need so many vehicles. If you are wondering, I do have space to park all five indoors (three car garage + large workshop), so the Taco has continued to live comfortably in an insulated garage at our home in west TX.

As mentioned above, the truck is 99.9% stock, so nothing removed/swapped/upgraded. A few small additions to the truck are:

    Here are more photos:

WeatherTech floor mats are included (but removed for photos to show carpet). Truck has had seat covers for much of its life, but they were removed (and discarded) for photos.

To address the "How's the frame?!?" question that always pops up, let me assure you that the frame (like the rest of the truck) is very nearly new. As mentioned above, the truck has spent its whole life in a garage in the desert SW owned by a retiree (and more recently in a garage in west TX owned by the retiree's slightly less old son).

I have to admit that prior to last week, I'd never given the frame much of a look except what I might have observed while doing maintenance, etc. But last week, I rolled around on a creeper and took many photos.

In the photos, the frame looks good and sound, but, well, it appeared to be a little dusty and perhaps have a bit of road spray on it (oh no!):

    frame1.jpg

I took a damp paper towel to the above "trouble spot", and I have to say that the frame cleaned up very well! I'm used to frames being coated with some sort of waxy coating, but this is obviously painted, and IMO, looks very close to what I expect it looked like when brand new:

    frame2.jpg

The frame has never been cleaned up, painted, fluid film'ed, etc because there simply was no need.

Here's a picture of the "inside" of the frame and the under side of the body:

Contact me and I can provide access to more and larger images, including many of the frame and underside of body, etc.

Buyer can pick up local, or arrange for shipping (after full payment).

    This truck is a god.

Curious if you know anything about the center console cover? Thank you.

Thanks for the nice comments about my Dad's truck.

Madjik-Man: Yes, truck has factory center console. I didn't like the skin to vinyl contact when wearing short sleeves. So I took a folded up hand towel and put it on top of the console for a comfy pad that would breathe. But the towel would slide off of the slick vinyl, so my lovely wife made a cover out of some upholstery fabric (which I forgot to remove for the pictures). The cover is nice and deep, so it stays in place, and the texture of the fabric helps keep my towel-pad in place.

Oh no. I fear that the above explanation might give the (totally false!) impression that I have the same affliction as this guy:

    * * * * SALE PENDING * * * *

I *think* I have a buyer for the Taco, but as we all know, sometimes these things don't work out. I will update this thread as we (hopefully) move towards the sale.

ps: How do I change the title/subject for this thread when sale is final?
