You can get way way more than $17K with a larger audience.

Nice truck shame you have to sell it since it was your dad's and he took such good care of it.

Oh, that's my normal luck. Lots of tire kickers that "definitely want to buy", but in the end...

Just for sh!ts and giggles, I'd post in on Bring a Trailer. Someone with funds will pay insane money for it. It would be worth the slight hassle.

I'd consider that buyer backing out as a sign your Dad would want you to keep this, and your wife is mistaken.

It'd be tempting to try just for the experience. I had assumed that BAT would be expensive to use, but if I read right, it's actually only $99 (and no cut from vehicle sale), so that's a reasonable price. I sold a cherry Jeep Wrangler TJ on eBay to make room for my Dad's Taco a few years back, and IIRC, they took a cut from the sale price.

But that said, I really appreciate this forum, and its members. I've not posted very often in my four years here, but I come here almost daily to read, learn, and laugh. I would be happy to sell the Tacoma to somebody on this list (so I can scold them if they don't take proper care of it!).

Some other guy on this forum recently found a unicorn 2000 lunar mist 4cyl original old guy owner with like 100k miles and he paid $17k, and that is probably what it's worth, I'd think yours is worth more. I'd consider buying yours if you were closer. Search BAT if you haven't already and look at some of recent sale prices. They are up there. Yours is probably worth more. GLWS

    :)

    Yeah, maybe so. haha

Part of me would like to keep my Dad's truck, but I just don't like owning five vehicles. I'm pretty anal about taking care of them (a trait I inherited from Dad!), so since I have room to do so, I keep them all under a roof in either my garage or workshop. But a workshop full of (clean) cars is no longer a workshop!

    taco in shop.jpg

I took the above picture to show the previous buyer that the Tacoma had been officially retired from use and was tucked into a corner of my workshop. Visible to its right is the nose of a fiberglass truck camper I'm building for an old Ford Super Duty visible at bottom right. Need to use a table saw, or even worse, do some sanding on fiberglass??? Out go the vehicles! But I'd rather not start up a vehicle to drive it 20 feet and shut it off (again, anal), so I have ended up not working out there as often lately. I know, poor, poor me (first world problems!). :p

Goal is to have three vehicles in the garage and our one beater sitting under a carport, which would leave the shop ... empty. Then I can go out and work for an hour here or there and leave out the mess and the tools and not worry about it.

    Well boys, it's official.

Buyer #2 flew in last night, we exchanged $ for title and keys this morning, and he's on his way home.

He has a loooong drive, but he assured me that he would have a smile on his mug the whole trip back home.

I picked up a "Transit Permit" to help him get home after I had removed my license plates. The permit is something you carry in the vehicle instead of attaching it to the rear of the vehicle.

So what to put in place of the missing license plate???

    Here's my solution:

Thanks to TW for allowing me to post my for sale ad on this forum, and thanks to the many members that commented and/or reached out to me about my Dad's truck.
