Hey all! I am a travel nurse working in Rancho Mirage. I'm working on installing an icom Id5100a in my truck and was wondering if anyone could help me solder my pl259 connector on and solder some battery terminal loops on my power wire. I am here from Michigan, so I traveled pretty light tool-wise. Don't feel like buying a soldering iron out here for a quick job, and I'm sure there are some hams out here who could do it better than me. 6 pack of your choice!

I didn't know that was a thing, that could make the battery terminal loops easier!

How's that antenna performing with no ground plane?

The topper is actually all steel so I would assume the ground plane is pretty decent.

awesome. It looks fiberglass, which would suck. I bet it's great with the big flat steel top!

not saying you would ever do a mars mod, but it can be done to that radio.

I should have it all finished and tested on an antenna analyzer this week. Very excited.

very cool. best part of these radios is CHIRP programming.

I have an IC-2730 in the truck, use the radio aux input as the external speaker. Glad you'll be up and running soon.

K2IGO if you hear me around, though I'm way down south and dont get on unless I'm in the truck.

    Good to know...

Thanks! I'm a travel nurse working in Palm Springs/Rancho Mirage so I'm pretty far south myself!

San Ysidro. Any further south I'd need my passport.
