    To add to what @Bebop said. If you watch the Clone Wars cartoon series there is a lot about Maul and other things that connect the series.

    Damn, I probably gave away a few spoilers then. There is a lot in the series that leaves you with a wtf expression. It stops becoming a kids show after season 3. There is a clone wars series movie on Netflix as well. Ahsoka was originally suppose to be kenobi’s new apprentice but the council assigned her to anakin.

    Cad bane is a badass, anakin sees his future when he meets the father, the son, and the daughter on mortis, kenobi has a girlfriend/Old love interest. Ahsoka leaves the Jedi order, captain rex comes back in rebels, asaj ventress becomes a bounty hunter, I can keep going

    The movie was suppose the come first before the series. But I watched the whole clone wars series before the movie

    It's better if you watch the movie and then the series. There is more to it than what @Bebop mentioned. I'll give you one more spoiler you find out how they are able to execute Order 66.

    Rogue one was their best work since they bought Star Wars.
    Rebels was too pg for me.
    Force awakens was too boring.
    Last Jedi. (Don’t even get me started)
    I havent seen solo yet but I will soon. I had to choose between solo and Deadpool 2 so I saw Deadpool. No ragrets!!!
