I had the same question after seeing Solo. A little internet searching turned up that Maul didn’t die in Episode 1. One of the Disney cartoons added that into canon after the fact.

Correct. That’s why I’m curious if that actually is Maul and we just haven’t seen in a major Star Wars movie yet how he survived, or just a new character

The Solo character kinda grew on me throughout the movie. I do agree it could’ve been somebody else

He survived because his brother saved him. Then he got some mechanical legs. He’s a pretty cool story on how he survived

They should have just used Harrison Ford and ignored the fact that he is so old. That would have been hilarious. But seriously I understand why they choose a nobody. Ford was a nobody as well as Carry and Mark when Star Wars began. Though both Ford and Mark had been in the business for years they were not famous until after.

I saw it over the weekend and thought it was pretty good. I rank the Disney Star Wars movies in this order.
    1. Rogue One
    2. The Force Awakens
    3. Solo
    4. The Last Jedi

Just my opinion and I’m not a movie critic or a Star Wars expert.

That sounds like a good list to me. I definitely want to see Solo a few more times though

It's dying at the box office and even after all the creative interpretations (like counting half stars as whole stars) the ratings are still in the pits. So I'm going to wait until it hits Redbox or maybe Netflix. Then I can give it the hate it deserves.

Maybe I liked the solo movie because I’m a huge fan of ham solo. I always thought his character was awesome.

Well even if the reviews are bad, it’s a Star Wars movie so I had to go see it. And I liked it :) maybe when you see it you’ll change your mind :p

I just saw it today and definitely liked it a lot. I think Solo is the best of the newer films, and right there with Rogue One. Even though you mostly know the outcome of the movie I still felt excited throughout it and with what would come next. I liked how they brought Darth Maul in and I think he’s been really under used in the films. He was pretty badass in the comics. Now I need a Boba Fett movie and I’ll be really happy.

If they are stealing the axiom ultimately for the empire, why were they robbing it from the imperial train towards the beginning of the movie? Did I miss something? Otherwise really liked the movie.

Yes. It comes after revenge of the sith and before rogue one and yes dead dead. He confronts kenobi on Tatooine and is vanquished fairly quickly.

To my understanding Han was helping Beckett with the job to get credits so he could buy his own ship and as a way to repay him for getting him off the planet the Empire was fighting on. And Beckett was stealing it for Vos who hired him, and Vos is a pirate/powerful gangster type of guy....
