    Hello.

My e-locker actuator shit the bed recently, and for a couple bucks more than an Aisin, I'm considering the Chilkat unit to complement the FJ tcase swap this spring.

Are the factory indicators (dash light) and traction control features (ATRAC etc) preserved with the Chilkat or other manual locker conversions? Where is the sensor for the lock status in the factory configuration, is it inside the 3rd or is it inside the factory electronic actuator?

    Thanks.

SOLVED: For anyone else looking, somebody confirmed that the sensors are IN the 3rd on 2nd gens and have a separate plug.

There are 2 limit switches (RLY1 & RLY2) in the actuator and a detection switch (RLP) on the rear locker.

The light is easy, you just ground the detection switch signal wire (RLP) (Blue/Yellow) to turn the light on and signal to the Skid Control ECU (ABS Module) that the diff is locked so it disables ABS as normal.

Making the 4wd ECU happy is another story, the easy way would be to put in a 4wd ECU out of a non TRD 4wd truck (89533-04021) so it wouldn't be looking for any of the locker switches.
You may check with the guy in this thread, he may be interested in selling his non-locker ECU. Someone put a non-locker ECU in his truck before he bought it, didn't realize it until he tried the locker.

I don't have much info on the locker posted here but the switch values are in the 4wd ECU pinout table if you want to try to engineer something.

I think with the FJ diff and tube, and a manual rear locker, the 4WD ECU is then completely unnecessary - I believe non-TRD trucks with the FJ swap delete the 4WD ECU completely. I'll have to test for RLP out of the diff.

    Thanks a million!

Ah I didn't know you were FJ swapped, yea then you don't need the 4wd ECU in play at all you just have to do a few wiring hacks which we figured out here for the other systems to be happy.

Yep I was just sayin 2nd vs 3rd gens the lockers are completely different. 3rd gen uses an Eaton type electromechanical vs 2nd has the little rack and pinion.

Oh right, yes, this is for 2nd gen trucks - no clue about 3rd gen trucks.
