So with the outright refusal in some cases for folks to update with success and/or horror stories I did the bit where you search and ooo common problem (random complaining followed by some advise) I thought it would be prudent to post my success. So on my 2019 Tacoma SR5 4x4 I had quite the knock, sound resemblance to an old chevrolet low on oil. After a few trial and error and WAY to much digging into TSB’s I found the fix. We have a vacuum pump on the 2GR-FKS when it starts to go this thing makes the engine sound like it has a bad lifter. I have attached the pdf of the TSB. Fix your truck and enjoy!

This TSB doesn't apply to you because trucks with CC don't have the vacuum pump. The brake booster is electric/hydraulic instead of vacuum assisted.

    Good job !
Do you have a recording of the knock from the vacuum pump prior to it being fixed?

I see the comment tapping at idle? How about when engine is going through rpm range and the tapping noise is is following right there with revs as high as you can Rev. And to add the tapping gets so loud that it sounds like the lifter or valve is ready to pop! Where does the vacuum pump come into play with this scenario??? Very curious because there literally 1000's of tacomas with this issues. I already know what the problem is and have post a thread on this. Some should read it. It will enlighten you!

Anybody post the audio file from the TSB? My ‘16 raps like a diesel all the time since new and it’s getting annoying. Zero mechanical issues after 90k but still
