    Hey guys,
So after a long wait for my truck to get repaired after an accident. I have noticed something weird going on with the passenger door locks.
This is what's going on, with the truck is keyed on, running or not running. If the front passenger door is opened and then closed. All the doors will unlock two times. I don't remember this ever happening before the accident but I'm starting to question myself.

I took it back to the body shop that did the work to fix this and about 12 other little things and they told me they reprogrammed it. After getting the truck home and checking everything again. Now it still does the same thing just that the front passenger door doesn't unlock but all the others do. Plus that door's window doesn't go up or down.

I pulled off the front passenger kick panel to find that their "reprogramming" consisted of disconnecting one of the plugs that go to that door. I'm not having a whole lot of confidence in them right now to fix this.

Is it just me or is the supposed to be this way. If not can anyone point me in the right direction to repairing this?

    It's not right.

The only reprogramming that can be done is with the Toyota Tech stream software.

And you can't program around an electrical issue. You have to find and fix it.

Could be a broken/shorted wire in the boot that runs to the R/F door.

Don't expect body guys to be able to diagnose electrical issues. Might have to take it to a mechanic

Every time I take it back they keep it for a week which sucks. Then they tell me it has a lifetime warranty when I pick it up. More like a lifetime of taking it back to get it fixed. At least my list of 12 things is down to 2. I might have to have to dig around myself a little more.

Just out of curiosity, was the door replaced?

Some trucks with a nicer option package have additional wiring.

If your truck is a "Limited' or similar and the door was replaced with a "grade" version, the wiring for opening all the windows with key won't be present.

Yes the R/F door was replaced.
I never use my keys to lock and unlock the doors. So I'm not sure if I lost any functionality using the key on that door. As of now the key on the R/F door only locks and unlocks that door. Which doesn't seem right.
The L/F door will lock and unlock that door or all doors.

I was thinking they just transferred the wiring harness over to the new door and broke something. But I like the way you think, I'm going to pull the door panel off and look around. It wouldn't surprise me if they forgot something.
I have found missing bolts and clips all over the place on the stuff they had apart.

I think my truck is limited but never had options like rolling up windows that I knew of. I'll have to double check if it is.

NO BMW feature on a 2nd Gen Tacoma.
There is a sensor inside the door look assembly that tell the locking circuit if the door is indeed closed & locked.

If your truck is a limited version, the feature can be turned on thru the Toyota software.

    This is helpful. Thank you!

Is this software available for Personal use? How do I get it?

I have the pirated version. It works fine. There is a learning curve.

Read the thread I linked and all questions can be found there.

It is a lot of work to figure it out, but it is cool figuring out what can be done with our trucks.

Had some time today to dig into this. At this point, I'm suspecting a wiring issue because from all the reading I was doing there is not a whole lot of programming you can do to a Gen 2.

This is what I believe is going on. The door lock control box is not seeing the state of the door "locked or unlocked" and is trying to keep me from locking my keys in the truck.

Pulled the door panel off and pulled out the door lock assembly and thanks to @ caribe makaira I was able to test it.
Both the lock and unlock switches in the door lock assembly were working normally during testing.

Ok now I'm thinking to check the wiring in the door, I put the door lock assembly back in and hook up the connector. Before getting too much deeper into this I decided to check it again. And just like that, the problem is gone. Not sure what fixed it but it is gone. I'm suspecting the connector was dirty and hooking it up a few times cleared up the problem. Checked it like 10 more times and it is still working. I'm going to call it fixed for now and see if it come back. At least I have a better understanding of what is going on now.

Thanks to all of you for the help

@ koditten I ended reading your boat build also. Very Cool! Nice work.
