^True. Not like this hasn't been discussed ad nauseum.

That's what forums are all about.....hashing and rehashing of old information. And that's because the newer folks haven't been around long enough to read and reply a gazillion times.

Atleast this forum responds with decentsy (sp?) and respect.... hats off !!!

I posted about this same thing, and I thank the folks that responded to my question rather than flame me for asking the same doofus question that's been asked once a month for the past 5 years.

BTW, My truck did a lurch today, while I was stopped at a light. I'd been stopped for at least a minute. I thought I'd been tapped at first, but not so. It was just the A/C clutch kicking off.

It is just another one of the annoying things about my truck. BTW, it has nothing to do with the A/C, since I haven't had the A/C on up here in Maine for about two months. Of the fifty or sixty automatic trans vehicles that I have owned, this is the absolute worst. It feels like I get hit in the rear bumper sometimes. Can't wait to get the loan down a bit so I can off it. Check out the other Toyota forums, pretty much all their auto trans vehicles have this same insane <feature>...My guess is that the trans holds second gear longer, assuming that you will be taking off soon and not actually stopping. Once it determines that yep, you actually want to stop, it downshifts to first gear, with the resultant bump or lurch. Drives me nuts.

That is what I found to be the issue in my truck, BUT, I think the auto is one of the BEST I have driven. :)

it doesn't do it all the time either...
the funny thing is... when i turn the temp gauge, and i get it to the deeper side of the blue, and the I DID NOT HIT MAX A/C, and A/C light is not on, it would come out cold air!
