If the joint was empty it may take a few pumps to get it full and start purging. Are you sure the fitting is tight and going in? My front driveshaft is a nightmare. The angle of the zerks makes getting the grease gun very hard and i often start pumping only to have the grease shoot out around the zerk cause its not on properly.

I'm not sure of anything at this point. I've done more than a few pumps. I hope a 2013 joint wasn't empty. The fitting is hard to get off, so I assume it was on right. Although I did get some around the side of the zerk????

I just did mine a few weeks ago for the 1st time. Love this forum. It took a lot of pumping in some joints to get it to ooze out. Keep pumping. You'll get there.

You need to be finding your front driveshaft first and foremost. Only then will you find the extra 2 zerks. Posted from kirkofwimbo

I don't know if you were joking or not, but anyway I read it your statement was all keyboard Rambo.

I never claimed to be a great mechanic. However, I was putting 440 Mopar engines in 1969 Cudas over three decades ago. How bout you slick.

You want to insult someone wait and look'em in the eye when you do.

Now if you were just joking around please disregard. If not take the driveshaft and shove up your ass.

Note: I have the 4wd model so I have 5 zerk fittings due to the addition of the front drive-shaft. Your model might not have those two. See pictures for reference.

This is the rear drive-shaft forward zerk fitting. You might have to rotate your drive-shaft to see this one. This one is immediately aft of your transmission.

This one is the rear drive-shaft middle zerk fitting. It can be found just a little aft of your carrier bearing. It is inline with the other two zerk fittings on your rear drive-shaft, meaning that if you have access to your front fitting, you will have access to this one as well as the rear fitting.

Here is your rear drive-shaft aft zerk fitting.

Your front drive-shaft aft zerk fitting is found buried in the middle of the u-joint and not as easily accessible as your rear drive-shaft zerks. Hopefully you have a flexible grease-gun hose. You might need to remove the rock guard that my index finger is touching. See the last photo in this post for a wider shot of this rock-guard.

Your front drive-shaft forward fitting. It too is buried within the middle of the u-joint. You can see some grease I missed when I was cleaning up since my last venture down under my truck.

Here you can see a wider shot of the front drive-shaft rear zerk fitting. Notice its relation to my transfer case and here you can see the rock-guard in all its glory.

As for the grease I use, I use Lucas #2 Red and Tacky http://www.lucasoil.com/products/display_products.sd?iid=46&catid=14&loc=show&headTitle=%20-%20Red%20%27N%27%20Tacky%20Grease

I grease every time I drain my oil like others have stated. You will notice some grease fling out from the joint which is normal, just keep up regular maintenance and you'll be fine. Happy zerking!

I love that we have now effectively turned the word zerk into a verb.

Wow...I had 2 bad grease guns from auto zone. Bought both today and they gave me my money back. Finally got a good one from Oriley's. Grease purged out in two pumps! I'm sick I wasted some much time and it was a bad grease gun.

Good thing it was that easy of a solution at least and not a problem with the truck.

I stopped by my Toyota dealer today and checked service schedule for when the zerks should be greased. Service Dept. and the sales rep. who sold me the truck said `there are no grease points on the 2014 TRD and haven`t been for a while.` I thought there would be joints on the drive shaft, ball joints, steering rods that would need to be greased at intervals, but dealership says NONE. I had a 2005 Chevy Colorado that also had none to be greased.. Am I missing something here?

Unless they have changed something you should have them. You need to crawl under and have a look for yourself. I would Not take the word of a salesman or a service writer for shit.

This!... Unless the 2014's are different, there are definitely grease points on the drive shaft...

The 2014 are not different. You got grease point on both drive shaft. It's the only one you got on the truck

Are you 2wd or 4wd? 2wd has no zerks at all.
