So... I live in a rural area and down the road from me is a machine shop that produces tooling parts for Toyota. The owner was over at my place today looking at a trailer i'm selling and and conversation went towards what he was producing in his shop. Tooling for Toyota engine parts.
In fact for a new V-6 for the Tundra and a 4-cylinder for the Tacoma. Now, the only way this would work for either is if they were both turbo charged. Maybe we'll get some better power and torque for the Tacoma after all. Maybe this has already been announced but it's the first I've heard of this. I know the Tacoma already has a 4 cylinder but this is for a new engine.

Base tundra comes with the 4.0v6 and the 2.7 has been a staple in the Tacoma for decades. Both N/A so don't know if it's accurate that it's the only way it would work.

I think the Tundy only has a V8 after the 14MY.

Pretty sure this tooling was for new engines.

I buy it. I just saw something the other day about the Tacoma and Tundra "sharing a platform" as well. Not sure if it is just a frame like the Titan/Frontier or what, but they didn't elaborate. I think we are looking at new models of both in a couple of years here.

At this point I'd be surprised if they didn't go with a turbocharged 6 in the Tundra on the next model. The gas mileage in that thing is steering too many buyers away.
