So I just got done upgrading my computer. The first major upgrade since 2000/2001 (basically a new computer), and I forgot to backup my bookmarks and recipes. :frusty:

Luckily, I have the ones I use all the time memorized, but it will be fun recollecting them all. All in all, not too bad though seeing as those two things were the only things I forgot to backup.

Anyways... Just thought I would share my frustration.

I bought an external HDD to back everything up on. I just forgot to backup those two things. I'm just glad I didn't forget to backup Quicken. That would have really sucked because it would have been bye-bye 8 yrs of financial info.

If you're running FireFox, I don't see why anyone shouldn't, you can use an add-on called "foxmarks". It basically saves your bookmarks online and you can access them from any computer that has access to the internet. You can also set it where when you close the browser each time it will sync up the bookmarks automatically.

+1! I used to use Google Browser Sync, but it had issues and they stopped developing it. I installed Foxmarks on my laptop a couple weeks ago and seems to be working. Haven't tried installing it on the desktop to sync the two as I've tweaked and organized the ones on the laptop a LOT recently, and god only knows what my wise has bookmarked on the desktop! Although she doesn't use Flock on the desktop so I could always add it to that and see how the sync works.

With your upgrade, do you have your old pc? Or did you just update it with a new operating system?

If you have your old PC. You can remove the hard drive & put it in your external drive case. This way you can pull off your missing files. Or you can take it to a local shop, that can do it for you.

And as the guys mentioned Foxmarks is awesome. It is a must!

Unfortunately, the hard drive was about the only thing I reused from the old computer. It got formatted for the new install, so there's no getting them back. If I hadn't reused it, I would have just thrown it in as a slave drive real quick and pulled off what I forgot. Done it before when I had to upgrade hard drives real quick.
