you do all the above with a trailer. Seems kind of inconvenient and impractical to always hitch up to that trailer in order to do all the truck stuff is all…

my rear cargo area is large enough to carry my gear for duck hunting. I keep the duck carcasses in a cooler either in my mudboat or in the rear hatch area. Along with my muddy waiters/muck boots and dirty gear.

when I get home I take the rear weather mat out and shake off the dirt and mud.

    same goes for the fish.

I haven’t really had any issue.

I can carry more in the back of the 4-runner than I can with the truck I had. I’m sorry you are offended. Don’t get me wrong, the Tacoma is amazing. But let’s talk sports gear for 4 kids. Back of a 5 foot bed with a lady and 4 kids. Show me a Tacoma that does it comfortably.

Much less utility (ironically) vs a truck. Both got 4 doors and 5 seats . Just one can carry way more gnarly things and tow more, and gets almost the same mileage. Seems kind of Illogical

Safety too. Hauling all those knickknacks /gear inside of the enclosed suv cabin can turn into missiles in a car crash. Toolboxes coolers and all that jazz you mentioned are going to go flying around and bash people about in a roll over

the interior space of the 4runner is larger than the Tacoma there’s really no comparison with that. A lot more comfortable with kids in a 4runner then a Tacoma.

however I’m not sure why you’re making this into a Tacoma vs 4runner thing. There both different vehicles who are equally good and have different uses.

If you had 4 ppl , 4 snow boards , bags of gear /coolers . You’re honestly telling me the 4Runner is better than a four-door Tacoma? Uhhhh seems like all that cargo can go right in the bed easy as 1,2,3

I don’t snowboard so this doesn’t apply to me. However a stroller, child, car seat 2 dog crates and bags fit perfectly fine in the 4runner with a little room to spare.

So I don’t see the validity of your argument.

There two different vehicles and are capable of different things. Not sure why you’re so bent out of shape over this? I haven’t seen one post in this thread stating on the Tacoma being a turd and the 4runner being so much better.

    there both good vehicles.

edit: I just saw that you drive a 2wd. Can you even get to the destination to snowboard?

another edit: just saw you have a short bed, can you even fit the 4 snowboard in the bed without them hanging out the tailgate. I don’t know why you’d get a short bed when a longbed is clearly the superior vehicle.

(see how these two edits sound dumb? Your posts are similiar. Overly aggressive and somewhat insulting)

I’m just sayin. Perhaps someone will read all the “cons” and see that in their case a truck is best. It was all Peaches and cream before I got in here. Just some counter points is all …

Speaking of those racks, does anyone know good brands for ones like that? I only can seem to find flat ones.

I mean yes you could. But also possible to put rack on truck . So in addition to the roof space on the truck you also have that bed . For ultra combo you can have rack + bed +
trailer. This is one extra utility space which the 4 runner doesn’t have . If it had to be locked and enclosed then simply add camper shell. So , ya why not just do that then with a truck ? Again I’m just sayin .

    Yes

it was most unfortunate as i could not do most of the things listed originally

Also also . For off road mods , the 4 runner is very difficult to run long travel rear leaf springs with large shock mounted to a bed cage inside the cab. Also hard to fit fiberglass fender flares in the rear with out dealing with door and handle issues. A lot of dust might get it too with a bed cage.
