What is the point of the SOS button? Not long after I bought the truck I got a call from my dealership telling me I had a free subscription for a while for this SOS....thing.
    Anyone know what it is?

Its a help button. If you are in real trouble (not stuck on a trail trouble) then you push the button and they will get your gps location, and send police and fire to rescue you.

It requires a subscription to use. It is something that normally I would say is not needed for me, but last year I really could of used it. I was paralyzed from westnile virus (took about 30 seconds to go from mobile, to paralyzed) while driving and couldnt use my phone to call for help. If I had that button I could of gotten help much faster.

So basically it’s a tracking device.

No the tracking device is separate from the sos. The tracking device is in your pocket along with the other imbedded in under the dash.

Yes and no. It less of a tracking device than your phone. Its a emergency tracker if your in trouble.

I say if your truck was stolen you could call the number and get an exact location where it is before they strip it

Standard on Lexus as well. Just a help button if you need it.

When my 07 was stolen, between 11pm and 6 am, even with that lojack that's a huge head start. Enough time for 4 guys to take it down to the frame.

Just for future issues if anyone finds themselves in the same situation. If you have an iPhone I would enable the Hey Siri feature, this way if your unable to move you can summon the phone to dial emergency services just by talking to the phone. Hope your recovery is going well, that’s something I wouldn’t wish on anyone stay strong.
