    same thing I was thinking.

ARB also test it and rate it.
Don't get me wrong I don't doubt this one is strong.
But same reason I lean more towards the ARB bumper vs all the other markets. Large brand name that also certifies it meets all air bag/SAS ratings.

I'm sure their new recovery point will be rated and have a proper working load limit etc.

I work in the industrial field as an electrician...I've seen the difference between a welder etc saying 'this will hold' and an actual reputable company with CSA ratings of working load limits etc.
I do not want that to seem rude, as I have a few welder friends and have done some myself and it is definitely an art. But when it comes to any sort of rigging, I've seen too many accidents to just use something that doesn't have ratings on it. Even if they would work fine, just for peace of mind I'd rather something with testing behind it.

one side is for tie down, the other is a tow point, basically meant for winching it up onto the flat bed.

Not a proper kinetic recovery point.
Just remember snatch straps are rated around 27 000lbs. Way I see it, your anchoring point should be rated for the same or at least close to it.

    From the FJ post one

"ARB’s engineers have developed the recovery point to fit in conjunction with standard bumpers and ARB protection bars and to use points within the chassis to achieve the 8,000kg/17,500lbs rating. Four mount points are included per recovery point to ensure that there is no torsional twist on angled pulls. A crush tube and nut plate extension are included in the fitting kit to work with existing mount holes within the chassis."

That's what I want to see before I trust any sort of recovery point with people around.
Sometimes supporting small shops is great and I love to do so, but when it comes to things like this I'd just rather be buying from a relatively large well known name that also does extensive testing on all their products before putting them to market.

    ignorance is bliss

Its scary the amount of guys I work with that just start the trade or have been babied through the whole time and just have no idea what type of shit they are dealing with. They're used to wiring office building floors or something no experience with any sort of rigging for pulling wire or moving gear. absolutely 0 respect for things like 8000amp 600V switch gear.
They say shit to me like why are you so scared
Because I've seen first hand the shit that can happen from idiots who do not understand what they are working with, as well as felt it. Still have scaring on my left arm from being next to a guy who had a disconnect blow up in his face.

I see it on the trails too. Idiots that have no clue what they are doing when having to do a recovery and just destroy their trucks or someone elses. Thankfully haven't seen anyone get hurt yet.

Thankfully I haven't seen trail injury yet, but I have seen some close calls. Saw someone take a three story swan dive thanks to an unsecured railing on a jobsite once though, that messed me up in the head for a while. I'll cut corners in all sorts of places, but when it comes to life and safety I don't mess around at all.
