Sources for discounted bicycles online?

Interested in upgrading one of my bikes. I have a bike mechanic (former Euro trained race builder) who can handle the fitting and component part of a selection, but he does not do any sales.

I am familiar with http://www.bikesdirect.com/ and have friends who have been pleased with purchases made there.

Problem is I'm not finding at that site what I want, so I need some other places to look that folks have had good luck with.

My goals are something like a café bike (flat bar, more upright seating) with a two ring crank. Or even single, depending on the rear gearing. Disc brakes. Modest frame weight, durable rims, above mid grade component options.
