Wanting to start hitting some trails in the Taco, preferably in/near Tucson.
    Any recommendations?

Nothing too crazy cause as of now I'm only running 265/75/16 (E) and truck is leveled with Bilstein's, no armor yet either. Now that the weather is warm I just wanna start getting out.

    Thanks for the future input!

You have Chiva falls. The back side of Mt Lemon. Then there are some cool areas out near Tombstone in the Dragoons mountain range aswell.

Edit: Depending on how far you want to travel you could run turkey creek. Its outside of Safford. You wont be able to run the other way in known as Rug road till you get some armor and a bit larger lift. 3" min on 33's

I'm a little familiar with Chiva Falls, I havent been there yet but my buddy who recently went there said he was scrapping a lot and hes in a Tundra w/ 33's or 35's so I'm hesitant on chiva and I'm definitely familiar with back road to mt. lemmon (I'm from Oracle). Now the others sound interesting. Are they just trails in the desert or is there things to see or go to while out there?

Its been years since I been out to Chiva falls. I thought there was a easy graded road in then you had the option of running the other route out that is quite a bit harder. Rug road leaves out of the shooting range in Mammoth and goes over the mountains into turkey creek. But like i said it is a 4x4 trail that will take the better part of 6 hours to run and will need full skids and sliders with nice tires 33's minimum. To get to turkey creek the other way which is allot easer without armor go to Safford and turn onto Klondike rd and follow that into turkey creek. There are also some abondoned mines and a townsite back there. Up in the Dragoons there are a bunch of old mines and a really cool old town site. Lots of history back in there since its so close to Tombstone. @JeepAndrew knows everywhere to go around Tucson. Also @05tacomabro knows all the trails too and can point you in the right direction aswell and needs a kick in the ass to get his truck back up and wheeling.

ahh okay now I'm sure there is alternative routes to Chiva that aren't as difficult, I'll have to look into more then. I'm hoping next year I'll raise my truck more, have armor and have 33's and really be looking into that difficult trail then, it sounds pretty fun.. I'm guessing the alternate route to Turkey creek is more of a 2 day trip? And maybe a group run one of these days this summer ?

Yeah Rug road is a blast! We usually do that as a weekend thing. Hit the trail early saturday morning then camp in turkey creek then drive out sunday. If you go the safford way in you could do it in a day. But I really enjoy camping in there so I would still plan for a weekend personally but thats just cause of how far it is from me in show low.

Check out this thread. It has a bunch of the campouts and shenanigans we have done. Good source to kind of see what to expect.

Welcome! Lots of good trails you can still hit up with your setup! Some good guys down here too! Reddington is a great place to get started, there's something for just about everyone there. Once my truck is back on the road I'll be out a lot more but I could hook you up with some buddies that are out almost every weekend.

Boxing the rear frame and doing a shock relocate. Started it over a year ago and the guy helping me bailed. Life got in the way and so she sits. Hopefully I'll have her bank on the trails by the end of summer when camping weather gets nice again.

Shoots sounds like you got yourself a pretty gnarly rig and hope you get help to finish her! Is that your only outdoors vehicle?

I might be driving up to Oracle this weekend I guess it wouldn't hurt to stop by and check it out now. I do still see a lot of trucks with trailers always parked by the entrance, must not be too bad out there.

Sorry had to drive to Alpine. Yeah its a cool area. Even get to do like 3 water crossings to get in there. And I love it up here. 2 min from my house and I am in the NF exploring.
