It seems that winchlock (by motivelocks.tripod.com) is unreachable--out of business?? It's the best lock that I've found for our undermount spares. Anyone know what's going on? Any other ideas for spare tire security? I've read the forums, and the winchlock seemed like the best solution.

My next step is to roll down the spare and see what I can figure out myself. I know someone used a long padlock, but I don't know what he connected it to.

I used a thick metal cable and had loops swaged on both ends, then ran it through a hole in the wheel up around the frame and locked the loops together with a master lock.
