    All of your ramblings simply gave my post more merit. All you are doing is bragging about yourself, while trying to demean everyone else and their experiences. And as an active-duty O1E with six years of enlisted time under my belt, I have absolutely nothing to gain by getting in a pissing match with a delusional and arrogant ex-E7.

    Yep. I'm retired. Gotta have something to do I guess. My life in the service was easy and rewarding and gave me great opportunities after my service. Not taking away from your real sacrifice. Why would anyone want to carry a gun and get shot at? That always bothers me. Where is the human race going? Extinction?

    Sorry, I'm done here.

    Don't ruin the OP's post. Everyone has a place in the military; trigger pullers and support. I was a trigger puller, but had many friends who did support. Help the OP by providing useful commentary and not hijacking his post. Let people with military experience show the positives/negatives so the OP can make an informed decision about his life. All veterans know how much of a sacrifice military life can be; let's share the wisdom.

    Why would anyone want to carry a gun? Because we believe in the United States Constitution. And we also belive in hard work and freedom. Stop being a fucking bottom feeder and putting down combat services because you were too much of a fucking coward to want to give your life for something greater than yourself. I'm sad you fucking retired. I really am. And I Feel bad for any soldiers you might have trained.

    Just go 11B, but enlist for the shortest time possible. Be in shape and as mentioned before bust your rear. Don't be a suck up! When I was in most posts had their own "pre-Ranger" course. I went to ft. Campbell's back in the mid 90s. Never did try for the Tab, but there isn't many days I don't regret at least trying. The only one you will have something to prove is yourself. Remember no one said 11B, Ranger, or SF would be easy but it's all in your head. If you can get your Tab you can do anything, you could even learn to operate an o-scope. Never quit, there will be time for that tomorrow.etc....

    This was a fun read.

    OP, any progress on your decision to enlist?

    @Conumdrum

    I don't think ppl are taking offense over the points you are making but rather that you are making them, unprovoked, in a thread to give a shout out to SOF. What are you so bitter over? If you are so proud of your service, make a thread. The OP is just tying to recognize and give a shout out to a group of people he admires and feels should be recognized.

    For those looking to join, a good workout tutorial for the branch you want:

    Conundrum obviously has a lot of serious emotions he has repressed, and it is surfacing as denial, and criticism of people he claims he doesn't understand.

    Either way, OP if you're in the Colorado area I could definitely run your ass through the ringer whenever you want. SFAS and the course is tough but it comes down to determination, and a "Fuck you, I'm not going to quit", attitude.

    So you're saying Grunts are stupid? Everyone in my unit, B Co 3/505, 82nd Abn, volunteered. People who serve in the combat arms, don't do it because it's their only choice, or lack a high IQ... F"it! Put your buttoks against your computer screen so the rest of us grunts can kick a mudd hole in your ass!

    You can't deny that there are a lot of dumb guys in combat arms that didn't qualify for any other jobs in the military.

    You can't deny that there a lot dumb fucks in non combat units that qualified (somehow) for highly skilled jobs, as well. Difference is there our dumb guys, and we look after them, and we trust them to watch our backs. Can you say the same for most non-combat units?

    Nope. Total lack of discipline and military bearing outside of combat arms. It's shocking how bad it is actually. When I made the switch it blew my mind what these soldiers do and get away with.

    Well this thread started off good but turned into quite a conundrum.

    Conundrum hasn’t been around for a few months.

    Probably best to ignore him and not tag him to come back. Good riddance!
