I don't live in California so I can't answer your question. However, if I am not mistaken that is 2 tickets in approx 1 months time. You had better check into what your insurance is going to cost if you keep up this pace. The cost of these tickets is peanuts compared to the cost of high-risk insurance. Take it from someone who has been there. It is not pretty....

Edit: Just missed your reply by a few seconds. I guess that is only 1 ticket. I retract my statement...

You have to pay the fine and the extra fee to attend traffic school, that gives you "permission" to attend traffic school by the court. Otherwise, if you don't pay the fee and you attend traffic school, they will not accept the completion certificate. In addition, if you've received a ticket and also attended traffic school within the past 18 months you cannot attend traffic school for this ticket.

The way I look at it, you got busted dude! Pay the fine go to traffic school and take it as a loss. As long as you go to traffic school your insurance won't go up. if you have the time you can go to court and try to fight it but your word against the cops......who is gunna win? What insurance company are you with? CSAA, State Farm, Safeco.....

Edit: If you have to be in court in 6 days just go and ask the judge for traffic school. You don't wanna risk paying your ticket late (or it arriving late) and getting a failure to appear on your MVR. You can also plead financial hardship in cali and the judge may reduce your fine, I have never heard of anyone getting away with that but what the hell.... give it shot.

I`d plead to a judge gulity with explanation. If you can think of one.
If the court is busy, you can plead not guilty and make a deal with the DA.
