I got bit by a spider last night at about 4am and managed to trap it in a plastic container. It felt like a small bee sting. I need help identifying it preferably soonerthan later. I posted a video on YouTube here is the link. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I don’t have any major swelling and no breathing issues so obviously it’s not poinsonous. That’s what I figure

I have no idea but I would probably go if someone doesn’t identify it soon

The light on the camera is making it hard to tell, but it sort of looks like a brown recluse. Is it mostly tan/brownish?

Brown recluse bites won't show signs for several days, then will turn into a growing red circle around the bite, to about 1-2 inches. At 1-2 weeks that area will become necrotic. They suck, I've been bitten several times.

If you go to your doctor now they will probably be able to help it out a little with antiinflammatories and antibiotics. I just suffered through mine, it's not life threatening.

Hobo or Wolf Spider most likely, MAYBE a brown recluse, but not really the territory for it.

Markings make more sense for a cellar spider or common house spider from Genus Kukulcania

If you start to see red inflamation, go to the hospital, but I would guess it is relatively harmless.

Why the hell would you go onto a Tacoma forum to find out if a spider bite is a problem or not. There are better places to get an informed opinion.

Looks like a recluse. Don’t believe it’s a wolf spider, I’ve seen plenty of those and they have different markings entirely.

Not all recluse bites turn necrotic. I can’t remember actual stats, but I think its only like 26% or something. And that’s if it is a recluse.

Edit: actual seems lower like <15%.

Either way likely all they’ll do is give you doxycycline or topical and tell you to keep an eye on it. Maybe some anti inflammatory if it’s swelling or with some bit of pain.

take the spider with you to your doctor. if it is a brown recluse you want to not wait for treatment. IMHO
