I recently purchased a 2017 Tacoma DCSB OR and have dropped a lot of money (per my wife lol) on it so far with things like:

    • HID Kit
    • LED Fog Lights
    • LED Tail Light/Reverse Bulbs
    • Replaced All Interior Lights
    • TRD Pro Grille
    • Tonneau Cover
    • Bed Mat
    • NFAB W2W Steps
So I cannot drop $1600+ on new wheels and tires at the moment. Probably wont be able to until after new year. So in the mean time, I am having my friend who owns a powder coating business powder coat my stock TRD OR wheels to a semi-gloss black.

    My question is,

I considered getting some Spidertrax 1.25" wheel spacers for my stock powder coated wheels to give my truck a wider stance. Any thoughts on this as I have no experience with wheel spacers and this is actually my first truck.

    Thanks for your input!

Good call on the Spydertrax brand. Them and Bora are good ones. Some get used hard off road without issue. The important thing to consider with wheel spacers are hub centric to both the hub and the wheel. And use thread locker. If you're asking if they would look good, well, that is up to your personal opinion.

Mainly city/urban driving. Some light off roading, no crazy rock/tree crawling stuff.

My concern is safety with them, wear on the wheels/hub/etc, and just any overall issues.

In for replies. Putting KO2's on my stock sport rims but would like a little wider stance.

When I do tires, I will be doing KO2s, but I don't want them on stock TRD OR wheels, I want either Pro wheels or FN (or FX cant recall) wheels.

I'm no expert, but any time you move the tire away from the hub flange you will put more strain on the wheel bearings and other suspension components. This is equally true for spacers and new rims with a different offset.

I have 1.25" SpiderTrax spacers with no problems. I hear Bora is good, but have no experience with them.

Whatever you get make sure it's 100% made in USA.

As others have stated, they can be safely ran if you go with a reputable brand like spidertrax or bora, and properly torque them, rechecking after the first couple hundred miles.

Why spend the 100 or so dollars for an aesthetic reason? Just wait until the new year and get wheel and tire combo you want. Save the cash or take your wife out to dinner.

I havent decided yet if I want to do it. Was just inquiring about more info on it for now. I agree though, it kind of is a waste of $100.

He could always turn around and sell them on here to make half his money back. People sell them on here all the time.

Yeah half his money when he can keep all of it now and be a patient little boy and wait for Santa to bring him money to buy what he really wants and not have to hassle with a sale on the back end.

So he ends up spending $100 overall for something aesthetically pleasing that makes him happy for the next year. Sound like a win to me! People on here have spent far more money on far stupider things.

I imagine people have lol. $100 isn't a lot to me and if installed right, they are safe and give me the look I want until I ultimately get my wheels/tires I may do it.

Right now Im just waiting on my wheels to get done with the powder coating. I may stick with them for much longer if I really like them and just buy K02s, if I do that then I'm not sure if I will need/want spacers.

    Either way, I'm patient.

I just bought max Trac spindles last night to put a 4 inch lift on my 2wd truck and I really don't need it, but want it. So, I totally get it. Lol
