Wheels and Tires: 17x8" Ultra Goliath wheels with P285/70R17 Falken Wildpeak AT3/W tires, Suspension: Fox coilovers set at 2", TC UCA's, 1.5" lift 3 leaf pack with overload left in Other: TRD SS exhaust, Pioneer AVIC 4100 H/U with Android Auto (awesomeness), sat radio bluetooth, Accessories: Toyota roof rack, black Toyota running board steps, cargo divider, weathertech floor liners, Literider roll up soft tonneau, thule bars over tonneau, USB ports front and rear, seat heaters, birddawg mirror riser Cosmetic: window tint, grillcraft black mesh upper/lower grill, vinyl armrest in doors, Clazzio black seat covers with blue stitch, Redline steering wheel wrap Lighting: fogs only mod, back up lights, amber interior accent lighting, amber 10" LED light bar in hood scoop, 33" LED bar behind the lower grill, amber lamin-x on fog lights, Tacomabeast headlights and matching tails.
Just to clear this up, there are several areas that could possibly rub. UCA's, frame, and fenders.

Regardless of lift, wider tires on stock wheels will rub the UCA unless you replace stock UCA with an aftermarket UCA. Wheel spacers would solve the UCA rub but would then stick out further and therefore rub the fenders without lift.

Taller tires could rub the frame at full turn and might also rub the fenders unless lifted.

    A few bolts are different.
i think that tire size will be perfect. but like others have said with stock wheels you will need the spacers to not rub the uca's with the 33" tires and being that it is a 4.5" lift there shouldnt be any trimming needed. with aftermarket wheels, 4.5" backspacing, your ready to roll on the 285's no problem

I'm getting a 2009 TRD sport in a couple of days and my first mod will be to get some spacers and replace the stock tires. You guys are talking about fender rub...is this just with the 285's? I don't plan on lifting the truck so was just going to get 265/70/17. Will there be any rub with those and 1.25" spacers?

I don't believe so. And unless you just want the tires to stick out further, I don't think spacers are necessary for that size.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yeah the spacers are just to make them stick out a little. Just wish they weren't $200 for 4.

Thanks for the heads up. I better go ahead and order. Just hope I don't end up with a set of spacers and no truck to put them on!

I just talked to Sherry at 4x4Groupbuy and they already have 8-10 sets on back order. She's not sure what's going on at Spidertrax to cause the lack of production, but she said she would rather call me back when she has some available instead of going ahead and taking my payment now. Looks like I won't be getting any for a while.

They look pretty simple to manufacture. I think I might have to make a set for myself and save the $200.

I found a place who has them in stock...
    http://www.supertruckusa.com/products/92807_008.htm

They don't have free shipping like 4x4GB, but it's worth the 25 bucks to go ahead and get them. They will ship tomorrow and be here next week.

I talked to someone at Spidertrax to ask if an alignment is recommended after install and he said no. Do you guys agree with this? Also, the site lists that they fit 1995 and up Tacoma 4WD. I shouldn't have any fit issues with a PreRunner huh?

Correct, no alignment necessary and they should fit the PreRunners just fine.

Ok, here are some questions for you tire/rim geniuses.... I am an idiot when it comes to tires and rims.

    Here is what I have:
    -Goodyear Destination A/T (265/65/17)
    -Stock TRD Sport Alloy Rims
    -3" lift

    Here is what I want:
-Bigger more agressive tire (something that will not break the bank) possibly a BFG M/T
-Black Rims... either the ATX Thugs or the ProComp 7089's

I'd like to order the rims online (to get better price).

    My Questions:
    1) What specs do I need (offset, lug pattern, etc) to order the correct rim that will fit my CURRENT tire - so I can get the bigger ones later... OR can I even do that?

    2) If I get one of these rims, will I still need the spacer?

    3) What tire size (specs) would you recommend if I buy the BFG A/Ts or M/Ts?

I have done alot of studying on the thugs, if you go with those get the 17x8.8, 4.5 BS and -6 offset, the part# should be 3991-78583 all 4 wheels have the same part number.
this combo will allow you to run toyr current tire untill you get new ones and will not need spacers after all is said and done. with the 3" lift you can roll a 285/70/17, but that will be the largest and there will still be a minimal amount of plastic trimming.

    Dude - you rock... Thanks!

I'd like it to have a 1'' or so past the wheel wells.

Will the thugs push my tires out past the fenders at all?

Or would the wheel spacers accomplish this?

Neubs has this wheel setup but with 275/series tires. they sit out the perfect amount IMO, I have the Spidertrax right now with 285's. they stick out a little more then the wheels would by about a 1/4". my setup rubs very slightly on the the body mounts at flex when the wheel is turned about a 1/4 either way. Through my research I feel that the extra 1/4" that the thugs sit inside the wheel well would fix the body mount rub issue.

Hey - did you mean 6x5.5" bolt pattern - vice 4.5?

yes you are right the bolt patern is 6x5.5 but the Back spacing (BS) on the wheel is 4.5"
as long as you go with a 6x5.5 bolt patern 4.5" BS and a low negative offset all in a 17" wheel I think all your need/wants will be covered
