What about compression? Think that changed? Might be better to move the mounts..

Twas my thought as well, chances are she don't compress as much anymore with a pack that thick

I'll keep an eye on it, or cycle it after I'm convinced there's no issues with them, but I think it'll compress right to the bump with no issues. These pack aren't that stiff. If I were to move the lower mounts up, I would loose the equivalent amount of uptravel, and I would much rather loose down than up. If I strap it, I'm really only loosing about a half inch, and that last bit of droop probably won't make much of a difference. Keep in mind with my old springs installed with the retainers on, I had about 9" of shock shaft exposed at full droop, so no matter what I'll gain about an inch with this setup.

Here's the pack next to each other for comparison. New leaf packs are about 1/2" thicker.

    [IMG]IMAG0479 by brettbjorgum, on Flickr

I think the added droop comes from the retainers being closer to the center. I see zero difference in length and centering pin location.

And finally took it on a drive for the first time in over four months.

Felt awesome. Ride was smooth and quiet. I think I'll love the seat, although I may lower it an inch. Going to give that some more time before I decide. Sitting at
26.5" hub to fender after my little drive. Before was 25.5". I think these spring will be absolutely perfect once I get the GFC and am loaded up for a trip.

Height looks good, it's sitting right in the center of its travel no? Looks like the pack thickness is the source of your extra height, the arch looks otherwise identical. Also do your shocks have the internal top out bumps?

Shocks are pretty close to the center of travel. Favoring up a little, but it'll probably be dead center after they settle. 1" more lift with a 1/2" thicker pack, so it's not just the change in thickness, but they probably will settle more.

I'd didn't request anything special on the Kings, but I thought they all had some sort of top-out bump. :notsure:

I like the rake too. Get yourself some custom built packs made to handle the weight!

Yeah don’t waste your time in Dakar’s with add a leaf like I did. Brand new springs flattened out with my added rear cbi bumper and spare tire.... really pissed me off after spending $600 on them after shipping!!! I can wait till I get my Alcans, 3-4 weeks is what bob told me!

I don't think there's anything off the shelf, especially for 1st gens, that can handle a heavy truck.

Alcan wad dead on with the lead time I was quoted.

I don't think you can run a shaft bumper with the welded rod ends.

Some of the newer Kings i've opened have a small rubber ring on the back side of the seal head to stop at full extension. But I doubt you have anything in there to keep it going metal to metal at full droop. doing it a few times won't hurt anything but repeated and with force can cause some damage.

My shocks will probably be going to full extension fairly frequently based on past experiences. I'm just going to go ahead and strap it, seems like the best solution.

Did you specially request the shaft bumper? I didn't and don't have that little washer in between the shaft and welded end.

Doesn't make sense to me. :notsure:

Nope, that is just what showed up, the washer is welded to the end. In retrospect not needed and I had to trim the washer to get it to fit in the shock mount anyways.

Between the o-ring and bumper configuration, the bumper is the weaker of the two, and "lost", as in it cracked in half, shown above. Got it?

King has some nice beehive shaped 7/8 shaft bumper now, almost like an OEM raptor front shaft bump.

Remember most straps stretch 1" per foot of length.

TG makes some really nice quad straps that i've read don't stretch as bad over time.

Quads still stretch and I bet they are made by beard or mastercraft.

wasn't saying they don't stretch. Just supposed to last longer than most.
