Looks like I'll be adding axle housing to the list of things I've cracked.

    With bubble gum?

Is that something you can weld?
Or will it just be a failure point now?

Just burn it back together and you’ll be fine. My traction bar ripped the housing too. They are pretty thin

That is a drill the ends of the crack, cut off wheel the crack, and weld the fucker kind of fix! I've seen it a few times before, the housing is usually D shaped buy now.

@Squeaky Penguin Don't forget to flush the fluid a few times with the cheap shit before the next trip.

with my "new" housing and used gears I drain and filled at 100 miles and will again at 500 with good 75-110wt

I always thought they were pretty thick, but I guess not. We'll see how it welds up.

    Always appreciate the advice, Connor!

Wonder if it's bent too. I know people truss axles to keep them from bending, haven't heard too much about cracking housings.

Yes. Interesting to see it cracked right along the factory weld.

Trip next week again. Great timing.

I'll weld it up best I can, daily the truck until then, dump the fluid, and send it.

    Well that's exciting...

Any thought on swapping to a stronger axle?

Yes, but going to try to avoid it for now. Might as well LT it with shocks outside the frame if I'm going that route.

Chainsaw lives in the bed. It's easy enough to get in and out with the side panels on the GFC when I'm clearing trail or something.

I didn't build this truck to slow down. :luvya:

Exactly. Only problem is the breaking it and fixing it part seems to be getting more involved.

At least it's his own shit. It's much less impressive when the shit he breaks is someone else's.

You need to get out wheeling again so I can pull out the BFH and fix some stuff on your rig. You should at least cruise out to RT for the weekend.
