Pretty much stock with some crap welded to it.
I have some cool ideas for some drawers and such once I find a shell.. I also need to figure out some way to run a swingout off the back of mine.

This works pretty good, for me anyway. Just a cheap Coleman cot, fits perfectly with the gate up. Gets you off the cold floor and you can store stuff under it.

What I would like is non-essential truck and wheeling stuff stored securely and be able to camp without needing to do anything with it. Then I would only have to pull out a cooler and a action packer or two and unroll a pad and sleeping bag. My camping recently is usually one night, and then wheel a day, and repeat. Don't want to be completely repacking the bed every night. Also, my cab-height topper does limit vertical room.

I regeared to 4.88 a couple of months ago. Auto and 285/75/16. Best thing I've done to the truck. Might be over geared, but it sure doesn't feel like it, even at highway speed. Fuel economy improved too!

Didn't we spend like 2 pages in here discussing this? It was between 4.88s and sticking with similar size tires, or 5.29s and 35s. 4.56s were never considered.

I'm pretty excited to finally get away from stock 4.10s. Should be a huge improvement on and off road and my clutch will definitely thank me. I'd be a little surprised if I increase my fuel economy though, was averaging 18ish mpg all summer. I've got a light foot. Generally over 20mpg on the highway too.
That popcorn will be quite stale by the time I get to it. Do you have a seed to your money tree?

So, while it Moab I hit my diff once on Kane Creek. Forgot to check it until the next morning, and of course, the plug was finger tight and I had lost 1/4 quart of diff fluid. So, before I really forget to check it one of these times and blow up my diff, I finally got around to doing something about it. My solution cost less than $1. Just need to weld up around the plug when I have access to a better welder and it isn't 20 degrees, but this should prevent it from happening most of the time, and will provide a nice sacrificial piece to grind down for a few years to come.

    What I started with:

    upload_2016-1-6_14-34-50.jpg

    Little diff slider:

    upload_2016-1-6_14-35-23.jpg

Cut a second one and thought about adding it, but don't know that it's necessary.

Also replaced the slip joint zerk for like the 3rd time and greased it. Need to find a better solution to this as it's just too vulnerable.

4.88's will solve that, your driveshaft will have a different rotation to it and as such the zerk will always be at the optimal position for clearance.

Throw some needle zerk fittings in there. You'll also need a needle grease fitting for your gun, but they shouldn't get ripped out as easily.

That's the only zerk that's exposed on my driveshaft. Unlike the 2nd gens that have the zerk on the end of the U Joints, all my other zerks are recessed in the joints. I could go with a needle setup, but seems like it would be a bit of a pain for one zerk.

He was following in Old Brett's ways and being facetious.

Are you looking for to the length thus exposure of the zerk? I replaced my zerk with a bolt. It's slightly lower profile and in addition to my low profile gas tank skid it no longer rips off.
And I did the exact same thing. Was getting gas before trail run in the morning there and noticed it leaking. Ran over to oreillys and crawled under and happy to find only lost a little like you.

Bolt could work. I'd be pissed when I drag one against a rock and round it out though. The only good thing about zerks is that they're really easy to drill out. Should just grab some extras for the time being. Need to fab a gas tank skid too. Hit it a few times this past year, although never enough to dent it again.

And yeah, that's like the 4th or 5th time I've caught it leaking after hitting a rock. I'm quite lucky I haven't lost the plug completely. Needed to do something about it before I do.
