We always used Ruger 10-22's back in the day. When squirrels were cutting hickory nuts in August...that was some good times! I'm 53 now and can't even pretend to enjoy being in the woods in the hot summertime, but when you're in your 20's it doesn't seem so bad.
I've replaced all hunting with bowhunting only the last 25 years or so, but squirrel hunting was always a good time.

I remember dad nailing them to a board and using a knife to skin them, @yota243 told me there’s a lot easier way. I have watched a couple videos and there is.

It's kind of sad how times change when you aren't paying attention(and when you are); squirrel hunting use to be pretty common in my area, now it's a blast from the past.:pout:

We'll definitely need food! Or we'll starve.

I told my wife I wanted to go again just a couple three weeks ago but she nixed the idea. She loves venison but apparently can't imagine eating squirrel. Bummer!

In Virginia, we have a spring season in June. Normally last two weeks. It’s fun to get out and look for them.

My next squirrel gun will be something similar. .32 Caliber flintlock, southern mountain style.

My son killed his 1st squirrel yesterday. She was large. In the freezer it went after he skinned it.

Didn’t know there was a squirrel thread. I’m done now that deer season has started. This year was the first time I’ve hunted squirrel in over 20 years. I forgot how much I liked hunting them, especially the grays. I went 6 times this year and killed 28. I may go some more after deer season in late January and early February.

rotated tires changed oil threw out the old air freshener.
I use the air rifle. the pellets don't carry far on a miss, and I've got a CO2 setup that is whisper quiet. pffft!

With fruit trees in the yard, I don't need to go far

My father was a big squirrel hunter back in the day. I used to tease him the squirrels were just rats with fancy tails!

I’ve got that same Rossi but a .22 and .410, think I gave $69 for it brand new.
