Seriously considering the Slimline hybrid bumper. Is it flat rate shipping on the hybrid? Anyone know if the 2nd gen TRD skid will work with this?

Most of their bumpers are pretty light - the tube full bumper weighs 70lbs.. I can't imagine you're saving much more than ~20 lbs with any aluminum bumper.

This. Also a winch is heavy as heck ~75lb. Will want stiffer springs anyways.

This bumper is amazing guys! I had one on my 18 Tacoma, sadly had to sell the truck.

Actually the weight savings is quite a bit. I work in a fab shop as a drafter and the Weight ratio is that mild steel like a36 or sch40 pipe weights roughly 2.8 times more than aluminum.

2" sch40 steel pipe is 3.65lb/ft vs 1.26 in aluminum
3/16" plate steel is 7.66lb/sq ft vs 2.69lb/sq ft in aluminum
1/4" plate steel is 10.21lb/sq ft vs 3.6lb/sq ft in aluminum

Heres an example explaining from victory 4x4 that the aluminum one for the 4runner is 28lbs in aluminum and 65lbs in steel

1/4" plate steel is 10.21lb/sq ft vs 3.6lb/sq ft in aluminum

I do really like how much closer SSO is and thats why i was curious about it in aluminum. Having a roughly 30lb bumper vs almost 70 is still something to me esp as 99.9% daily driving.

Yes..... aluminum is lighter than steel, nobody is arguing that. I was saying the SSO tube bumper only weighs 70 lbs, and I haven't seen any full bumpers much lighter than 50, even in aluminum. For example, the only bumper I see that victory makes for the tacoma in aluminum weighs 48 pounds. So if you like the SSO bumper, you can get one for about 20 lbs over most aluminum(and currently about half the price)

And in my opinion 90% of bumpers out there for the tacoma look like universal bumpers that only kind of sort of fit the tacoma. The SSO looks like it could be a factory option.

There victory blitz in steel is 63lbs which is a low profile style like the SSO but requires less cutting and fully reversible back to factory. https://www.victory4x4.com/product/VT3FB.html The aluminum counterpart is under 30lbs. Hence why i was curious if there was an option to get aluminum in SSO

Sorry guys, I quit getting notifications for this thread so I assumed it got deleted/died. So I do apologize for any questions that went unanswered.

    1) The group buy didn't hit 20% but we are going to end up doing the 20% to match our Black Friday sale. Expect refunds at some point this week.
    2) We will not be doing aluminum products as we have in the past and the weight savings were not optimal for the price of the product. We have found often people say that want aluminum bumpers until they have to pay aluminum prices.
    3) We don't generally tell customers if they're getting one of our bumpers that they need a new suspension, but if you're adding a winch we always recommend a different suspension setup.

If you're still interested in the 20% off here is the thread on that
