I have a 2004 Tacoma pre-runner and not sure if my vehicle has stability control.
I see front disc rotors are different for non-stability control vehicles versus stability control vehicles.
No where can I find out if my vehicle has this option or not.
How do I find out if my vehicle is equipped with that?
    My vehicle Vin is :

    Any ideas ?

No, there is no VSC button, just a RR DIFF LOCK button next to my dimmer switch.
No other as you have posted.

I don't think first gens had any sort of stability or traction control, I think they were ABS only.

This is the best I can do for you.
I don’t see it listed, bit that doesn’t necessarily mean you don’t have it?

If it has a stability control system it will have a stability control light on the cluster when you do a bulb check

If there's a light on the cluster, there will be a section in the owner's manual that describes the system the light is attached to

Yeah, checked for all the indicators when ignition turned on, didn't see any sings of its existence. I want to get a set of rotors online and just wanted to make sure I was ordering the ones. I remember the last time I did brakes, either on my '02 or my current '04, I bought the wrong rotors and had to huff them back to the auto parts store in the pouring rain on my bicycle.
I guess I should look on the bright side,,,,,, at least it wasn't in 9' of snow

But if the rear wheels lose traction on a slippery surface, isn't there supposed to be some kind of slip indicator light on the cluster that shows up and tells you that you don't have traction? That's the light I was referring to.

If you're slipping there has to be a light that will tell you that you don't have traction. That's different than an on/off button

After a bit of searching I found this

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/how-to-tell-which-brake-calipers-on-my-2004-tacoma.158018/

Also, Trac and Atrac are different.
    Trac is Traction Control
    Atrac is Advanced Traction Control

I don’t believe Atrac was introduced until 2009

Yes my second gen cluster lets me know when the rear wheels are slipping

Kinda figured all cars were like that. If the wheels are slipping bad enough that the trac control has to wake up and do its thing then the car also wants to let the driver know that there is a loss of traction.

If your car is equipped with a system like that it's going to have a bulb but lights up during a bulb check

Thats generally speaking.. that 2004 could have been an early design or something

1st gen dash clusters are very basic compared to 2nd gens. Diff lock switch lights when on. VSC button lights when off. 4WD green dash light.
Only reason I know about the 2004 stability control is by passing on it when I purchased my 2003 Tacoma 4x4 Jshift MT. with manual windows and doors.

I think we're talking apples to oranges though.

VSC is related to steering angles and yaw. It wants to keep the vehicle pointed in the direction the steering wheel is pointed and sometimes it will apply the brakes to help that happen

Trac control looks at slippage from the drive wheels, it doesn't care about steering angle

My 2nd gen has both and I'll bet the 2004s you're thinking of had VSC only

Took me a few posts to realize we were talking about two different things:cheers:

2004 DCSB 3.4L AT had a button marked AUTO LSD on models with locking rear differential.
Would that have been an auto locking differential ?

Has to be something in the most basic form; these trucks are so old.

Does anyone even take LSD nowadays?

A rear locking diff is optional as it came with the TRD package; that is separate from any "safety" device as that's what traction control lends itself to be.
