one of my friends has a '97 regular cab and i think he managed to get 2-10's behind the seat in a custom box he built. I havent had a chance to look behind the seat though. I know for him the mount depth of the speaker was his biggest challenge to overcome. He had to keep with a fairly shallow sub.

My friend and I installed on an '82 reg cab, and that cab was teeny. I'd imagine you could do the same. We put a 10" in a generic "truck box", then put that behind the passenger seat. A small amp went underneath the seat.
Everything fit, but the passenger seat was permanently scooted forward halfway.

Note that this was back when I didn't have much to spend or know to even ask about mounting depths, so you will want to research that. All I'm saying is that it should be possible!

Yeahhh.... I wouldn't want to go that route. You start thinking of really bad ideas. Also you would need to overcome a hell of a lot to get that sound to you, and it would end up sounding poor.
If you had to do it, I'd have a camper top and a sliding rear window. Still, the bass would be right against your head

Chickenmunga; it can be done with the use of an accordion gasket between the cab and the bed and some welding of braces inside the cab and in the bed. Do able... but totally not worth it IMO.

Two tens would be good. You might want to PM MrMarv about how much airspace is actually available to build an enclosure behind the seats of the 1st gen Tacomas. The box that you linked to, IMO, seems pretty low quality. It looks to be constructed of particle board, which flexes a lot, and is not typically the best material to make a sub box.
