I am currently saving up for long travel and I have no idea if I should just settle for a Standard kit which is cheaper or go the extra mile and get a Race kit? (only shocks no bypass for now)

LSK race long travel, King 2.5x10 coilovers, 2.5x10 bypasses and 2.0 bumps. 2.5 Tundra fox rear DSC shocks, Icon RXT pack, Icon bump stops. 4.88 w/ TruTrac. AFE Y Pipe, URD cat-back. CSF radiator, OVT 91 tune, Ripp coil packs.
In my opinion unless you are planning on cutting out the fender liners in the front to get the full access of the race kit then there is no point. I did it with my LSK kit, but I believe even the Solo kit says that you need to cut out the fenders to get full travel of their kit also.

I got the race kit for the heim uppers. Which I locked the lowers using the poly taco tabs and then adjusted the upper arm to dial in alignment.

I guess it all depends on what the op wants to get out of it or what the consideration of the word "race" to "standard". Each company seems to have a different term of the word "race long travel"

If by race kit you mean Total Chaos race kit Vs Total chaos Standard kit then i would get the race kit.

For 2nd / 3rd Gen kits you want the uniball built into the arm like the race kit, not a uniball adapter peice that bolts to the spindle with the arm bolting to the bottom of the adapter.

Pretty much everyone has switched to having the lower uniball being built into the lower now.

If you mean race kit like the quixotic kit or LSK race kit then it depends what you're doing with the truck

Gnar build with a fulll cage, linking the rear with a full cell and an expensive rear axle - then big travel race kit

Leaf springs with a bed cage - then a more bolt-on LT kit.

TC Long Travel, SUA, Bed Cage, Fiberglass, 38", JD Fab LCA mounts, roll cage, manual hub conversion + Stickers!
I just removed a TC standard kit and installed Race kit. My vote is spend a few more pesos for the reasons stated above. It's a big cash investment either way, so don't penny pinch IMO.

38D6B6E4-76C3-4928-A598-F69FEFDB960D.jpg I have the Bolt on LSK kit and I really like it and I’m pairing it with the dirt king spring under kit. Mines my daily driver and I might do some Offroad time attack stuff but won’t be entering the Baja 1000 anytime soon. I say bolt on but who knows if I’ll wanna upgrade later on.

Bolt on kits will outperform any SUA. Next step up is linking the rearend if you want to improve off road performance - your truck will jam with that DK SUA!
