figured i'd make a separate post for this...

started herculining yesterday... i really like how it is turning out. 1 coat on 2 more (at least) to go on this side. i think the herculiner dries a little glossy so i am contemplating painting it flat or satin black after i'm done

I dont know if painting it would be a good idea. Might peel or flake after the liner dries.

I saw a Dodge Dakota drive by today that had Line-x'd fenders and rocker panels. if it wasn't a Dodge it'd be pure sex...in this case...it was just sex.

I'm wanting to do something similar to my truck. I hope that turns out good. You're very brave to do the whole lower side of your truck like that!

The rear bumper of my truck was backed into a pole by the previous owner and kinked the lower rear quarter on the passenger side. I checked on having it fixed, and got quotes for almost $600 to fix the body damage and repaint the rear quarter. I had been thinking about straightening out the damage myself and doing the body filler (I can do that, just not a pro at painting) and either doing the Herculiner or something similar myself to the quarters. I'll probably do all the prep work and then see how much it would cost to just have the rear quarters sprayed with Line-X.

I've got some pics of the damaged area that I'm talking about so you can see. I just want to fix that damaged part, but spray everything below the body line with Line-X or a do-it-yourself bedliner kit. That way I don't have to repaint the entire side of the truck, and I think it would just look good.

I'm thinking about spraying below the bottom line behind the rear tires on both sides of the truck. What do you think?

i sat their for 5 min before i could start grinding that paint off... it was tough

but yeah several layers of herculiner definately covers up minor imperfections and black on your white truck would look sweet... but you would have to get every bit of that rust off to avoid problems later.

i like it... it makes me wanna do just my flares. My flares are really faded and back to black doesnt last. Where did you buy the herculiner? is it brush on?

and did you prime the plastic first?

Herculiner can be bought/ordered thru Autozone, it is brush on, and it comes with instructions about how to put it on. (I don't believe there is regular primer involved)

ok, so i just herculined my flares yesterday. they look really good, but i taped off the seal so that only the plastic got herculined. It really does dry glossy, VERY glossy. is it easy to paint the liner?
