So I've ordered the re-build kit for a 98 Tacoma V6. Classic 120,000 miles starter taking some times 5-10 times to engage.

This morning truck statrted up but sounded like the starter must have stayed engaged. Turned the truck off took out the key and starter continued to turn motor over for maybe a 1-2 minutes???

    Any had these issues?

    Thanks in advance

Well when you turn the key all the way over to start mode it energizes the bendix, you let off the key when the motor starts, the juice to the starter bendix is off & the bendix recoils out ,under normal conditions, but if the bendix spring is broken or weak pretty sure it won't fully dis engage thus allowing the circuit (& juice to the starter) to continue, I may be wrong here but pretty sure this is how it goes maybe someone else will chime in with better info....

Hitch and wiring, aux back-up light, rear strobe lights, radio and underseat sub.
Disconnect the small wire on the solenoid. That is the lead from the ignition. If the starter still runs, bendix is toast. If not, does the key return to run after releasing from start? If yes, the switches behind the tumbler can stick and keep starting.
