so i went off-roading last week and got a lot of water and mud under the hood. now i have a hesitation when i go to start the truck. its like the solenoid doesn't close right away. it can take over a second sometimes. once it does start to roll the engine over it has no trouble getting the engine running.
any thoughts as to what it might be?
its been given a through power-washing under the hood since the symptoms started. and seems to be getting worse every time i turn the key.

    any thoughts?

Sounds like you pissed the starter off and it's ready to die.

Hitch and wiring, aux back-up light, rear strobe lights, radio and underseat sub.
Check your battery terminals for corrosion and loose clamps, check the starter connections for the same. If that's good, the starter solenloid is the most likely culprit.
