Todays update is very minor, Chris(my fab guy) has been very busy as hes building 2 tow trucks and with customers vehicles.

Today, i cleaned all the grease and oil off all of the inner workings of the diff
    ajqk1u_fe5719f9c73e935cbc16d46651676c2ee7ada4eb.jpg

Also took the third apart to replace all bearings, yes Nwi it is an 8"
    2ni1ylg_1e38b14d08a64eee062729bf532f13a77846538e.jpg

And installed my new tail lights
    sqk1uf_1c3c90657540895d14fe0c3082f5c27523a59670.jpg

Tomorrow we are ordering all necessary parts to rebuild the diff, also will be getting new bearings locally. The only downside to doing this project my self with help from him, at least for now until it comes time to put the diff under the truck is that my truck comes second to actual work. But it keeps cost down and I'm okay with that.

If it is the 8" front, there is no sense in change the rear axle for a shitty off-set LC axle.

Well since nobody else has said it you got ripped off for them axles. They are in shitty condition and I wouldn't have paid more than 500 bucks for them. Btw they are just standard non-elocker fzj80 axles. The front will be a hp 8 and the rear should be a lp 9.5 ff

Chris wouldn't sell the axles separate, and I don't have any use for it to sit in my yard sooo...

So much hating going on in this thread, jeez. Subbed for cool build. I may have missed it, but are you going to use the transfer case out of the 'Cruiser? Didn't the offset axles have a flatter t-case for more clearance?(I thought that was the point, but I honestly have no idea)

i've been for a ride in a similar industrial toyota when working underground in a nickel mine, things take some serious abuse and never heard of one breaking before completely rusting out due to the underground environment.

Why not just use normal gear driven cases? The land cruiser case really isn't a desirable case. It's massive and doesn't have any aftermarket support other than some ubber expensive 3.0:1 low range gears. With the longer wheel base the rear driveshaft is fine to use with the offset as long as it's not 10ft in the air. Another option is to center the rear 9.5 with a diamond or ruffstuff housing.

^^^Truth. Keep your tcase and your rear axle and save the work that will have no gain.

^^^Truth. Hell I pulled elocker axles 8"hp front 9.5" rear for $300 earlier this year, that was a good deal!

FIFY. We just want the OP to know what he actually has.

OP-like it has been said, I would not even think about using the cruiser t-case if I were you. Keep you t-case and axle. If you really want to use the LC rear axle, just run a DC rear driveshaft and you will be ok even with the offset, although it may present clearance issue with your fuletank.

Pulled the panties off the wallet today. Ordered a gear driven marlin with 4.7's, longfield chromos, bearing kits for both the housing and the third, and painted the birfield housings and steer arms. Rear will be swapped in as well, because I've already paid for it, and the offset isn't going to cause problems. Budget surpassed. Surprise surprise :p

Way to un-ass the cash. Get some Longs while you are at it. It will minimize birfield issues in the future :)

:woot: Sounds like money well spent though man. You won't regret building the axle stronger. Now you'll want to put some 37's on that bitch!
