Always ran steeiles on my LR D90 too. Just ordered 4 gen 3 Taco spare steelies, will be painting them white along with the proper acorn style lug nuts and some Spidertrax spacers. Not sure if my alloy TPMS sensors will transfer or not? We shall see.

For anyone interested in running the 3rd Gen 16x7 spare steel wheels with the correct TPMS I have confirmed the part numbers below.

    42601-AD030 3rd Gen 16x7 Steel Rim
    42607-06012 TPMS
    04423-0E010 TPMS Fit Kit

I had a hard time finding this info so thought I'd post it in one place here.

Also check your state to see if TPMS is required to be functional to pass inspection. Not all states require TPMS to be functional to pass, so if the light doesn't bother you or you want to bypass the system using the original sensors in a pressure tube, etc. you can avoid the added expense of new sensors, it's an option for some.

    Hi,
I ordered the rims on line. I just checked around for best price, free ship, etc. I have not yet purchased the TPMS sensors or the fit kit yet. After checking the RMV inspection rules in my state & confirming TPMS is not required to pass inspection I'm thinking about just going with conventional rubber valve stems.

Anyone know what tires these are? (Sprouty, I'm gathering this is just an example pic and not 'your old truck'... otherwise my question is What tires did you have on this one haha).

Did these work out? Any fitment issues? Did you need spacers? What brand and size are they?

Those are the Cooper Discoverer S/T, in 255/85R16 8-ply

Unfortunately Cooper doesn't produce them anymore though.

You can still get the STT Pro and Maxx in that size, 10 ply. They also have 235/85/16 if you're running stock.

Sadly, I don’t. I was watching for Toyota/Tacoma 17” rims at the time to see what was out there for either a full set or spare. I see the link is dead. I’ll take a peek and see if they are still around.

EDIT: I see I was searching FJ 17” STEEL WHEELS/RIMS. I found an expired auction by reverse image search and here is the info:

I think these Steelies from 1996 to 2002 Chevy 2500 vans would look pretty darn nice on a Tacoma. They are 16 inch diameter, 6.5" wide with a bolt pattern of 5.5 inches which equates to 139.7mm. They seem to be less expensive than the tacoma spare tire steelies. Wonder how the offset compares.

Them's a good deal they are, the 17's. But the 16 steelies are the real cat's meow cause they allow you to do the legendary and bodacious 235 x 85 x 16 tire config.
