I'm planning on installing a keyless alarm(push buttons start so totally keyless). The only issue I forsee is the steering wheel lock. As far as I can tell I have two options: disconnect all wires from the ignition cylinder and break off a key inside there turned so the steering lock is off(then over up the hole). Or permanently disable the steering lock which I'd prefer that way I can leave the ignition cylinder functional for redundancy. I've searched a bit, but haven't found any useful info on disabling the steering lock. I'm kind of surprised since I figured some of the guys that turn these into crawlers would opt for switches instead of keys like most "toys", but I could be wrong. Does anyone here know how to disable the steering lock?

Pull the cylinder and look how it works. If its like ford the lockbar gets shifted back and forth by a square piece on the end of the ignition lock. Take a flat head screwdriver and give it a twist inside the slot and it willrotate the bar out of the way. You won't be able to put the ignition lock back in though.

I did it to my mustang, kept the lock and a flathead in the car in case i needed to swap it back in for some reason. It takes a couple seconds to reinstall.

Did you ever figure this out? I’m about to attempt a gallotech remote start/push button start and that’s one of the things I need to figure out.
