Hi all, I did a search, but couldn't find much info on this topic. I have a 2016 limited and for some reason, after only ~57k miles my steering wheel is looking and feeling rough.. Correct me if I am wrong, but the limited has a leather wrapped steering wheel, correct? If not, what kind of material is it? While I haven't kept up with the interior detail as much as I should have, i have cleaned it (the interior) roughly once a year. This amount of wear doesn't seem normal on something less than 4 years old. I do have an extended warranty, but I am fairly certain that this would not be covered under it, correct? What can I do (if anything) to repair the currently damaged area? and please don't say duck tape/electrical tape:rolleyes:

The wheel is staring to feel like unfinished/unsealed leather in the worn spot almost suede like:(

Note: this is the top of the steering wheel, I just turned the wheel it to get a better picture.

this it the bottom of the wheel for reference:

The only way to fix it is to replace it.
You can prevent damage to leather but not reverse it.

A leather conditioner may help but thats about all that would. All leather shoukd be treated at least twice per year with a conditioner or its going to dry, fade, and crack.

Also the one thing that will damage your interior faster than anything is UV rays from the sun.
If that part of the wheel sits in the sun all the time is will accelerate wear.
Quality window films protect not only yoir skin from radiation but your interior as well.

Hand sanitizer kills interior surfaces extremely quick as well.

Before you do anything too extreme, try some good leather conditioner and cleaner. I use Leatherique. It's not cheap, but it really works. If that leather isn't actually destroyed, it can pull out all the junk that accumulates from your hands.

Grab a magic eraser.... thats oils and dirt that turns into a thick paste on your wheel. Should come right off.
