Steering wheel conversion with Radio controls

well i'll Definitely be watching this thread, id love to have this wheel since it looks cleaner than adding the sienna wheel controls to the Tacoma wheel. Were those wheels ever available with leather wrapped? i'd imagine the Camry maybe?

 

Some leather some were leather and wood. If you want to see how fancy they can really get, do a google search for" lexus gx470 steering wheel" then go to just images.

 

This wheel is just bad ass!

 

It gets fancier. 2003 Lexus GS430 - and it has the correct single wire airbag trigger. This is the steering wheel I plan to get.

 

Hmm i would rock that, get the 4 runner black steering wheel trim and that, maybe find a way to replace the wood with carbon fiber... hmmm i'm still torn on what i want to do with my interior when its all said and done

 

I dig the wood but it doesn't belong in a Tacoma. Carbon fiber would look great.

I believe I've been told that 00 era Sienna van steering wheels have radio controls and should have the correct air bag for our trucks.

 

I need to hit the local Pick n Pull and do some investigating

 

yeah but no bluetooth controls..

 

Those radio controls can fit on our wheels too. Just not as pretty as the newer style wheel

 

Confirmed by @Krazyoakes the 2003 Sequoia uses a single connection airbag.

 

Your just talking about swapping the inflator into the newer wheel yes? at first i was thinking you were swapping the entire thing with the cover. By looks it looks like the inflators should just bolt in...

 

The complete Seqouia airbag. I'm a little cautious about just switching igniter. Airbag volume could be differant.

 

i see now. for some reason i was picturing the 03 sequoia to have our factory wheel but a quick google search says otherwise.

Looks like i'll be starting the hunt for a 03 sequoia wheel that is leather wrapped..

Wonder what the color match is like from our charcoal to the sequoias, Toyota lists ours as charcoal, the sequoias are dark charcoal.. hmm looks similar though.

 

That's a different airbag plug, the Lexus GS steering wheel I linked uses the same large yellow airbag connector the Tacoma used

 

When you switch over to the clock spring that supports the audio controls it has the correct plug. See my third picture.

 

Curious to see how that would adapt with the Tacoma airbag computer since it uses a different clockspring airbag trigger, or if it has any difference at all
