hydraulic and electric steering definitely feel a lot different in a way that seems impossible to describe in words.

As someone who only drove cars with hydraulic steering for many decades, I didn't like the touchiness of the electric steering - so many micro-adjustments it felt like if I sneezed I'd steer into oncoming traffic. But I got used to it and came to like it.

Wobbly is not the word I word I would use to describe hydraulic steering, not at all - so it makes me wonder if you do have a problem....

Give me a little while and I'll get back to you on some resources on where to find info regarding it.

The mod itself has been done different ways including shoving a zip tie in between the rag joint and the bushing (which is what is originally there) but this is a permanent fix for it.

You suggested the Taco had not been driven for a while...
If that is true, it is possible that one or more tires developed flat spots. That would produce a wobbly feeling.

    Yes, it was not.
It seemed to feel better after driving it; I don't know if that was just me getting used to how to drive it again, or if the truck liked getting driven. As in the fluid warming up, rust being scraped off the rotors, and so on.
