I used to have constant vibes that got a little worse with time.... and then my wheel bearing just let go one day. Don't ignore that vibe!

I have a very slight shake @ 65mph. Tires are pretty new, so im thinking its the balancing issue. If it gets worse I will take it in..... love my taco

I have never had a vibe issue on a toyota until new tires were put on.I think the wheels are lug centric which means they need a adaptor using the lug holes instead of putting a cone in the center like most tire shops do.Toyota dealers shound have the proper equipment.

UPDATE to my saga... So since this posting I've been back to the tire store twice, the last time I spent and hour and a half there while they moved all four tires onto different rims, meaning same rims just moved the tires to a different existing rim, and positions on the truck. NO BETTER. Then they claimed "There must be something wrong with the truck" so I took it to Toyota dealership and had it inspected AND aligned. They said there was a bit of an alignment issue but nothing that should cause that shake (they went for a ride with me to see it). NO BETTER. Went BACK to the tire store and they replaced the front passenger tire, NO BETTER. I drove it for about a day and called the tire place and said something has GOT to be done. So he agreed to test it by replacing all four tires with a different brand, went from MT Baja STZs to Cooper AT3. ALSO it should be noted that I went back DOWN a size in the height of the tire to the 265/70/16, and VOILA. The truck drives smooth like butter. The only thing I wish I had done differently was to stay with the same height but change brands and see. So I can't clearly say with absolution if it was the tire brand, the tires not perfectly round, or the height. But bottom line, the truck is fixed. phew. AND I have a brand new set of tires after driving about 10,000 miles on the other ones. Cool. :D

My shake started last week when I put on winter tires and rims. Before that 33,000kms shakefree miles on stock dunlops. Took them back to the dealer to rebalance and no better. I went through this with my 96 corolla after I changed out the original tires at 40,000kms. Took 6 times of rebalancing them to finally get it right! Problem? Had to switch to stick on weights. Wonder why stick on weights balance the wheel better then traditional ones?

it might be wheel shimmy from mis aligned toe. go get your alignment measured or done and see if that doesnt help

Majority of wheel mfr's make lugcentric wheels to fit a broad range of trucks, not to say these type of wheels can't be balanced however the problem is that 99% of the tire shops have no idea what roadforce balancing is...This can all be solved by choosing wheels that are HUBCENTRIC..I am running MB72 wheels from discount tire that are HUBCENTRIC and have no vibes whatsoever

I had 5100's set at 2.5 and an extra leaf installed. Then, I had my winter tires put on. I went on the hwy for the first time about a week later and had really bad steering wheel vibration around 65mph. Wasn't sure if it was because of the tire balance or the lift. Drove like that all winter. Then, in the spring I had new 33" tires and new wheels installed. I went to a different tire shop and it was perfect! The tech looked at the winter tires and rims and said "where did you get those installed? I bet you had bad wheel vibration" I asked him how he knew and he said "because you have weights on opposite sides of the wheel (i.e. right across from each other (top and bottom not inside and outside)). It's almost impossible to balance them that way and it's not done right". When I had the winter tires and rims put back on a couple weeks ago, I had them rebalance them and they did a great job. Absolutely no vibration on the same tires and rims that drive me crazy last winter.

    Had steering wheel shake 55-70.

Had tires checked with a road force balancer (all tires were within spec and didn't need to be turned) and wheel weights re-done. Discount Tire knew what they were doing.

Shake is gone, much to my relief.

My shake comes and goes. It's always in the 80-100kph range when it does show though. And it fades if I drive for long periods at that speed. I have my stock rims with BFG AT's. I think my issue comes and goes because I have the wheels magnum balanced. That's where they put a 2oz bag of plastic beads inside the tire before they mount it to the rim. The weight moves with wheel spin, and balances the tire. I get it mostly in the winter, where I think the moisture of the air inside my tire freezes putting extra weight in sections of tire. The longer I drive, and heat the tires, the vibe fades and it's smooth again.

Hoping I dont get wheel shake when I install my wheelers offroad wheels this spring. Will have to let discount tire know they are lugcentric.

I had the same thing from about 3rd week. I took it in for an oil change and told the tech about it. They checked it out and replaced a front tire. They said it had a hard spot on it. No charge to me, cause less than a year old.

Long Travel plans for the future, going back to 35" tires this summer, probably mud grapplers. Putting out 218 rwhp, and 245 ft/lb of torque.
I had bad steering wheel shake, and road walking in my tacoma when i bought it. It had a 6" pro comp, 20x10"s on 35" terra grapplers in the front, and 35x14.50" irocs in the back.. i started have a problem with my wheel bearings going out ever 2 weeks (2wd truck btw) so i guess the previous owner didn't understand the stress a 20x10 on 35s puts on the front spindles. So i had to get some 20x9 fuel boosts and 305/55/20 cooper Zeons. It completely fixed all the problems i had. Eventually ima go back to 35"s and see if it drives okay.

Just my experience, try to keep it short & sweet.

-Truck drove fine stock, 70,000 miles.
-Replaced stock rugged trails with BFG TA 265/75/16 Load Range E. Shake started. Got front rebalanced, shake continued. Alignment, rotate, balance. Nothing, still has shake. Now up to 120,000 miles. :(
-I needed tires again, new wheels 17 x 8 Pro Comp 7089, BFG TA 265/70/17 Load Range C, with E/T conical shank style lugs nuts. NO SHAKE. :D

I’m so happy, can’t believe I just drove like that for so long. Anyway, I would not mount another Load Range E tire. And personally for my driving, I can definitely do without any MT 33’s, no matter how good it looks. ;)

People don't understand that all tires aren't all just great. Had my truck looked at by two different tire dealers. I had two nitto terra grapplers with buldges in them. Finally got two brand new tires from the dealer for all the trouble i had to deal with. They explained it to me as you can roll a brick but it isn't gonna be smooth.

how funny cause my truck used to shake mildly. and now its gotten progessively worst!! I got them rebalanced with sticky weights but no luck. im at 70k miles and running 2.5inch front lift with 265 70 17 cooper discoverer st.... tires wearing out equally. I think it might be the rotors. maybe they need to be rotated, I used to have this same problem on a saturn l300, when i rotated the brake rotors boila!! like new again. but as for now... shaking...
